Apple iPhone 4S Battery Drain: Guessing Game Continues

so much for longer battery life than an iPhone 4 that was reported
apparently if you turn off all services that make the phone work ;) your battery will last a little longer.
so far no definitive reason for the battery drain. didn't Apple take an extra 6 months before releasing this phone to make sure it was perfect and "just works"?

so far the only solution is to disable many of the features that make the phone special lol

DIY Battery Life

Critics and users impatient for an official statement from Apple about the iPhone 4S are trying to solve the battery drain problem on their own. The most popular culprit found so far is a feature in the iPhone 4S's Location Services that lets a phone discover its time zone automatically. The feature can be switched off by opening the iPhone 4S's Settings app (the grey cog) and selecting Location Services > System Services (at the very bottom of the screen) > Setting Time Zone.

But that's not the only solution. Apple's support forum thread on the iPhone 4S battery issue is replete with creative concoctions for battery-saving techniques. This morning, there are 2388 comments and more than 157,000 views on the Apple support forum thread dealing with the iPhone 4S battery life issue.

Apple buys their batteries from the same manufacturers as everybody else.
(At least they acknowledge there is a problem and have great CRM to deal with it)

That's Wood's point, he's saying that they may try to spin this in some way.

Apple has released a POS with the only saving grace being Siri's popularity. Let's see how happy people are in another year, with months and months to go on their contract and their phone won't take a charge anymore.

Love this comment on Apple`s forum section

"
First ever Apple phone product. iPhone 4S, brand new out of the box, on a full charge, without making a single phone call or doing any serious data, got about 16 hours of standby time. For a product that claims to have 200 hours standby, something is SERIOUSLY wrong with this phone.

Called Apple support and they acted like they`ve never heard of the problem, like I`m making it up. "

or this one lmao

"

this is exactly how I feel ,I spent $839 to support Apple Inc
for buying this phone and now I have to stop using full
feature to not drain the battery. if Steve job is still alive , we
will already have a solution . whoever taken his position
is not doing a good job"

(Uhhh, hey numbnuts, Steve micro-manged that company up unto his death, it got his approval, fucking idiot was brainwashed to believe that Steve had the answers and solutions, meanwhile he was the one to "ok" the problems ...idiot fanboy lol)

One more comment for good measure...
"Oct 16, 2011 9:28 AM (in response to mrbofus) In the 29 minutes since I last posted, I wrote one email, played one word in Words with Friends, one word in Hanging with Friends, read a few news articles in USA Today, and read some posts in Engadget. All on wifi, not 3G. My battery has gone from 89% to 77%. Dropping 12% every half hour means the phone will barely last over 4 hours of light usage, and that`s not even making any calls!"

lol

Yep, game changer, all hyped up bullshit for Siri (aka - Vlingo), huge profit margins, promised a great product with so many features, only to be hold to minimize or turn off the features to prolong battery life....lol

you may as well have bought a stone

A lot of times the battery tests are not accurate anyways, since they are done under ideal conditions. Also the tests are preset runs that have nothing to do with real world use.

Yet they`re promoted under the veil of real world use.
But hey, they`re worth billions of billions and yet they have issues with their latest, greatest piece of stone.

Well, at least OTB can keep bragging about their financial wealth and how they`ve got so much money, because really, that`s all that`s important, not the quality of the product. lol

I think Apple will one day become like HP, Compaq, Nokia, Motorola and Dell. Tech. giants and have become less and less influential. Mostly because Apple sells at a premium for products that look better but are not actually better spec. wise. Also, they are a very arrogant company and this can lead to their downfall.

I don't think they'll become like HP. They'll be around for quite some time, they have a winning formula, with the focus being a market driven, "OMG! WE LOST OUR PROTOYPE for the 100th time!" marketing style.
In comparison, everyone else isn't as secretive and that's what (obviously) create the hype around their products.

It's odd how all the Apple haters spend so much time dwelling on the iPhone and other Apple products. Why is that?
I dislike windows OS and I'm certainly not viewing sites discussing windows.

Indirectly you are confirming the apple envy in these posts.

It's kind of sad really, the same 2-4 people posting continuously, not sure what they get out of it. Different products for different folks, but some feel the need to try to insult others' intelligence and spew ridiculously biased nonsense, basically acting like 13 year olds.

I don't dwell, I like to counter points, call it, Devil's advocate?

When people INCESSANTLY post crap about how great something is (when it really isn't), you gotta call it like it is. I think the incessant posts about Apple's numbers, their products, etc, are just a means to justify the insane pricing that people have shelled out for them.

What's there to be envious about when you compare a stone, an iPhone and Android based Samsung.

One thing they did forget to mention was Swype texting as an option for the Android. ;-)

Otherwise, their products are beautiful(ly), overpriced and break down like any other product. lol

Pretty fresh coming from you.
However, I will agree about the 13 year olds comment, like this sort of reply. -> https://terb.cc/vbulletin/showthrea...pp-downloads&p=3755415&viewfull=1#post3755415

You see arrogance, I see confidence.
They've got some of the best 'customers service relations' and 'customer satisfaction' in the business.

Ha!

They make it almost impossible to report a problem, let alone get a solution.
