Yep. Apple is playing 'catch up' design wise since Samsung has surpassed them with it's Galaxy and nexus phones. When Fanboys complained of the iPhone 4S's outside design being the same old same old I knew this would happen.

Off course some silly fanboy will now assert Apple already had the idea for a bigger screen for yrs and yrs.. LoL! They can never concede that their fave company is not 'first' on something. :p

Where does it say that Apple is being forced to provide a larger screen?
Didn't you read the article?

Sigh. Fom the article you didn't bother to read:
''The next generation iPhone also may have a larger screen. Most of the rumors predict it would be a 4-inch edge-to-edge display, with high resolution up to 1,280x720, or 365ppi. Jobs once insisted that the iPhone should fit nicely into the hand. But many fans have complained that iPhone's current 3.5 inch display was too small. Hence, it is possible that Apple will enlarge the screen."
And on top of THAT Samsung phones (the Galaxy 2 and Nexus) have bigger screens so of course Apple has no choice but to enlarge theirs otherwise Apple fanboys will whine very loudly... You see.. Apple fanboys don't like being in 2nd place.

LOL! You honestly think that Apple cares what their fans want? Geeze, you really have no clue. For example, people have been whining about no mid-tower Mac for years and Apple's done nothing!

Apple does what Apple wants. It doesn't care and your article shows absolutely nothing that says otherwise.

Why are people feeling the same kind of loyalty to a cell phone as they would to a sports team? I don't get it. Both choices seem to have their +/-'s. No big deal. Choose whichever and move on

Chances are, they will. Maybe there are some statistics out there that Apple has seen that people prefer larger screens on their phones and hence are going that route (rumored).
60% in this thread would like iPhones to have a larger screen.

Maybe Steveo and the rest of Apple have read or are reading this thread?

the hobby needs more capitalism
I agree with the larger screen.

I don't want something massive like I've seen with some Android handsets. Makes one handed usage difficult.

4" inch screen would be a nice sweet spot.

I'm not saying that they won't put out a bigger phone but to say that Apple is being forced to do so? You'd have to be pretty ignorant about Apple to even think that and the article doesn't even say anything near that. Apple is arrogant enough to believe that they know what the consumer wants.

Well two things.

1) the article quotes an anonymous LG executive saying they (Apple) will have a larger screen. Since LG will be the ones producing screens for them it seems.
"Next year's iPhone to feature a 4-inch display by LG Display, half an inch larger than the 3.5-inch display and retina display resolution will remain unchanged because LCD is currently being regarded as the right solution to offer value with better cost-cuts," an anonymous LG Display executive reportedly told the Korea Times."

2) Apple is arrogant enough, period. However, many iPhone users bitch about the lack of flash, while others chirp what Steveo said, that flash is bad and old tech, yet, it denies the full user experience as many (understatement) sites still are flash based and HTML5 is not out in full force and won't be for a few years still.

One thing only and I've been saying it through all of my posts on this thread - the article does not say that Apple is being forced.

At 0:41 the guy flailing his arms all overly excited, like he's never had sex before (probably hasn't), I think that's OTB.
