Apple 4S iphone email queston

only a 2 week new user. I set up my hotmail / email account and it asks....delete email from server?
I set up my work email....and the questions is not available, so the problem is.....when I retrieve an email and delete it on the iphone.....it is removed from my server. I prefer this not be the case, as when I'm in the office computer...I delete from there. Any thoughts, fellow terbites? DG

There should be a setting in the email account itself regarding that. Or worse case don't delete the email on the iPhone if it's one you want to keep. I have multiple emails on my iPhone and some of the accounts are just set up in that manner and others aren't. I don't really use hotmail so I am not sure about that one.

I only have my personal email set up on my iphone. When I delete something on iphone it's still there when I check on my computer. I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything. Have you tried sending yourself an email from your computer and then delete it on iphone to see what happens? Or ask the apple people. They'll help if the phone is only two weeks old.

Some googling (you should try it!) reveals there's an option as to when the iPhone will permanently delete email marked as deleted off the phone. Perhaps setting it longer than a day should fix this issue.
