Sits in a corner all alone
From a 212 area code (New York City), some guy calls me to say that I qualify for a Vacations (for 2) package including 4 nights in Florida and 3 nights on a cruise to the Bahamas (with an extra 2-night stay at Ft Lauderdale to be taken at any time). The trick here is that while the package is valued at $2500, I could purchase this package at $299 per person. With my girlfriend, it would cost me $600 for this package. Besides the trip, hotel reservations, and cruise, I would get a car rental during my stay, and two 2-day passes to Universal Studios. The company who called me says he is a company operating on behalf of Universal to promote their resort experience. The package could possibly be used anytime for the next 18 months.

The catch, besides the $299/person cost is that I would have to attend a promotional seminar then take "some" promotional material (probably a crate full) back to Toronto.

After his spiel about the trip details, he asked if I was interested and if so, a credit-card number but I declined saying that it was lost at a restaurant (which it wasn't) so he said he would call me back in a week. I also asked him for some promotional material before I decide and he said that he did not have any available.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the members here went to the autoshow and I'm sure that some of you got this call. Could you provide details and the like? Thanks.

You likely filled out a ballot for somthing at the car show. There is a high probability that the you will be pressured into buying some sort of Timeshare (or the like) if you go.
