Anyone here use Bell 3G for their laptops? Or Rogers' equivalent?

A friend is thinking about getting this for his laptop (for his breaks at work) and since I never used it thought I'd ask and see who has and who you preferred and why? Any problems, etc...?

the road of life.....
mobile internet from rogers? quality is decent but expensive doesn't begin to describe it.
Agreed. From a business perspective - the ability to connect almost anywhere has a lot of merit - but that merit comes at a cost.

Cobster, is this for personal use or business? It might be too expensive for personal use only.

It's strictly personal use, he's going to be using it for breaks at work. I told him it's not worth it for that alone, but he "wants" it.

They want roughly $30-$35/month without contract, plus you have to pay for the hardware $140+taxes it seems.
That sound about right?

That's for Rogers, Bell's site you have to do yourself online.

can't he just walk to a coffee shop? or if he needs private access to the net, get a phone data plan. i don't do it, so i could be wrong but others tether their notebooks to their phones.

I have a rogers rocketstick, and agree with what everyone has said. its 35 for 1gb. depending on what he's doing that goes fast. if you're on youtube, and hour later you'll be at the max.

its not a great option, i use it for work checking mail and staying online when i'm at cottage and away from home or office, but as an everyday means of browsing the fees will kill him.

tell him to get a blackberry or iphone and browse there, much more economical, 6gb for 30 bucks, they screw you on the rocketstick.

Zero video usage, strictly websites, stock trading, banking, that's it.
He bought a netbook already so he took the first step, but I'll show him this thread with everyone's input.
Appreciate it guys, saves me the hassle of trying to figure out if it'll be of any value to him.
