I went last night and again today. Always love the atmosphere and the food prices aren't too bad. Especially on Sunday, more stalls were selling 3 stick for $5 souvlaki and 3 quail for $5 and a couple were selling $3 souvlaki on pita.

Best of all, the women......my God! Its like the women of the world all descended on this one little street for a few days so that men could stare and stare and drool and stare some more! Skimpy outfits of all kinds worn by women from seemingly every race and background you can think of. I LOVE TORONTO!! :D

I feel the same way about the women at the BR and FYEO, and I also get to feel those women. ;)

Ah Toronto, a plethora of womanly eye candy from across the globe. The Greek Festival, Caribana etc. a feast for the eyes, and even more than the eyes. Seriously, such diversity here in Toronto, one would have to spend thousands $$, to travel the globe to see the multitude of displays of feminine beauty that we take for granted on a daily basis. Something for all tastes and flavors, like a Baskin Robbins.:D

I went and agree with you about the fantastic women on display..in fact, that's my no. 1 reason for going now.

Which brings me to the food prices. If you have to stand awkwardly amid a crowd of people to eat your small portions of souvlaki, then charging $5.00 for it is a little out of line. I understand that alot of the businesses there make alot of their total yearly profits during the festival. Well, I think they should give us a bargain .... 3-4 dollars tops for all items.

It's just like the CNE without rides, games or attractions: aimless trudging on hot asphalt with nary a bit of shade or places to sit. Or dispose of your garbage and recyclables.

The GreekTown BIA should be making enough from fine Danforth institutions like the Pickle Barrel to give the million or so visitors a bit moremore.

But the eye candy was certainly there.

It was a disaster:

We were there during peak time (8pm), you could barely move from the crush of people. Most of the places were using up their leftovers - especially for the condiments. Shai-Punjab figured they could make get away with excluding their delicious pecoras so we purposely avoided them. Auld an Syne was using dessicated horseradish on their oysters and the sauce for Mambo's crab cakes was nearly spoiled.

The worst part of it was that Omonia, our choice for a sit down, served the most atrocious calamari possible; it was undercooked and the tzaziki was tastleless. Talk about treating "tourists" with contempt.

Usually the restaurants on The Danforth are some of the best in the city. More's the pity.

Agreed, I have always gone but knew one of the restaurant owners who always reserved a seat for me outside in order to people watch....The restn is closed now and I just did not feel like walking with the huge crowds. Too hot.....too crowded...but Toronto does need these festivals, if the city flounders any more we shall be in big trouble

So True.

For quality of life only two other cities (Munich, Florence) can rate with Toronto. Unfortunately the rest of Canada is determined to destroy our city; Toronto has become Julius Ceasar at the Ides of March.

For proof, just take a look at the Ontario ads.

Wow some of you guys had a really different experience than I had! I went on Saturday night and it was pretty crowded, but I guess I kinda liked that for the atmosphere. As for food prices, from what I saw it really wasn't that much different from the last few years that I went to TOD. Chicken souvlaki for most stalls was about $3 and pork souvlaki was $2-3. Gyros, schwarmas, souvlaki on pita were $4-5 and everything else (Chinese, Indian cuisine etc) was in the $4 and under range. For a little over $20 me and my friend were able to try a few different things as well as fill our stomachs.

I went again late Sunday a couple of hours just before closing and it was less crowded (probably because of the rain) and prices were pretty darn nice in some stalls. I had chicken souvlaki for 3 sticks for $5, grilled quail 3 for $5 and had a souvlaki on pita for $3.

All the food for both days that I had were done pretty nicely and was very tasty and some of the better deals were past Jones avenue and before Donlands station. There was this supermarket that was close to the 7-11 that was selling chicken and pork souvlaki for $2 each on Saturday and 3 sticks for $5 on Sunday. The pork was good, but the chicken was absolutely great!

Also the music wasn't bad, but most of the time I was walking and didn't hang around too long to listen. And my mind and eyes were too distracted by so many lovely women. :D

Every year TOD never ceases to fail when it comes to drawing some of the most beautiful women of Toronto and concentrate them in a small spot for men to be continuously awestruck while they walk from broadview to jones. Unfortunately for women who are looking for male eye candy there, the pickings are slim. Hot guys just aren't as plentiful as hot girls. Maybe that's why ugly and average dudes call still get hot women.

The BEST greek food on the Danforth is Mezes (www.mezes.com), Kalyvia (www.kalyvia.com) and Pantheon (www.pantheonrestaurant.com) if you like seafood.

I got there shortly after noon with a lady friend. I couldn't ogle as much as I could have. But y'all are correct: the babes, the babes!!!!

I also saw a very pretty, quite short babe walking around with "Miss Toronto - 2007" on her whatevertheycallthosethingswomenwearinbeautypageants.

The food was okay. Still, it was fun.
