Any thoughts from the locals?

I'm still a bit green here compared to some (I'm looking at you, Cutter), but it seems to me that the scene has changed quite a bit in the last few months. Problems at agencies, Indys retiring and whatnot. We still have lots of tried and true gems, but the changes have made their time more rare and valuable.

Part of me wants to take a stab at running an agency. Need to convince myself it will be worth the time. I know Hammer went from being a hobbyist to having his own place, and was regarding as running one of the best shows. Trying to do some research on what it would take to do the same thing, and figured I would get a little help from my friends here. If anyone can help me with a few questions I have, it would be much appreciated. Feel free to PM if more appropriate.

1. Anyone know how to get ahold of Hammer? I'm sure he would have some insights.

2. For fellow hobbyists: how many prefer incalls to outcalls? Do you prefer to pre-book appointments, or have a lady available on a moments notice?

3. For the escorts: how many have ways of dealing with legal troubles? Have they been necessary? DO you bother reporting income, or do your best to fly under the radar?

This business is in a constant state of flux, but as you stated most “tried and true gems” are still around and IMHO, never disappoint. There are the “under the radar” gems, but that takes time and effort to uncover them.

Part of me wants to take a stab at running an agency.

If you make that step to the “other side” be prepared for a full time job, it’s not as easy as it may seem. Depending on hours of operation you could be looking at 80 hour weeks. You will have to find a suitable place, deal with the ladies schedules, deal with how the girls get along with each other, deal with drama, maybe deal with ladies that have “issues” and no show clients can be a problem. If you think you can “road test” a prospective employee, that’s not necessarily true.

For fellow hobbyists: How many prefer incalls to outcalls?

My definate preference is an outcall to Hotel CB, although an incall to a certain condo isn’t unknown.

For fellow hobbyists: Do you prefer to pre-book appointments, or have a lady available on a moments notice?

I pre-book 100% of the time.

If I am treading on holy ground or disturbing a sacred cow, I am terribly sorry.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I know it won't be an easy undertaking, but very worthwhile if it can be sucessful. I've had my share of troubles, even in my short time, but that's only made my stronger and wiser. To boot my family worked in the food industry for quite some time, and it's about as cut-throat over pidly messes as you can get. Dealing with people, working long days, and taking the heat is no problem. the only downside I'm seeing is the need to keep my 'vanilla' job for the next couple of years and having that all work. Would certianly need a phone girl to help take calls and keep schedules.

Great post CB. My only suggestion to the OP is to have a couple good SP's you know well (beyond the business, not just as a client) to team up with and get your operation off the ground. Having a core group is like any good business and will make the difference in your attempt being a success or failure. Just my 2 cents.

I agree completely. I wouldn't try to steal anyone away, but would certainly need a couple of SP's who have already been around. If they are well reviewed and established that would be a bonus. I know a couple outside of the business, but that would barely scratch the surface.

I believe that there have been a few other hobbiests that have tried to start their own agencies as well and they went poorly. Many SPs have tried to start their own agencies and those went poorly as well.

That being said, there have also been some great successes as well. The fact of the matter is that, like with any business, in order for it to a success you have to have patience, be organized, focus on the happiness of not only your clients, but also your employees and be innovative. What kept ASA so successful for hammer's entire run at it was his ability to scout out new women and keep the talent pool full. He was able to keep personalities happy (for the most part) and kept a good rapport with most of his clients. He also kept things low-key and ran his business with a cool head.

Treat the ladies that you have with respect. Just because they are SPs and you like to partake in SP services, don't assume that they will do whatever you want with them. If you want to hobby, do it outside of your business. If in your travels, you find a girl that you can recruit...congrats. Bring her aboard and move on. You come from the restaurant world...if you expect to eat all the food that you can and get it for free, be prepared to get morbidly obese and suffer a massive heart attack and eventually, your restaurant will fail.

Incalls preferred.
Moment's notice is a nice option because usually all the notice I get to find out I have a free evening.
And if you get a website, keep it simple and don't cover it in goddamn flash slideshows and crap like that.
Make an effort to have appointments happen on time to avoid delays or cancellations or it'll look like the Sienfield where he was at the car rental agency.

There was a guy here who tried to start his own business earlier this year (I can't remember his name, but he was mostly in the Hamilton forum)... anyway he was really obnoxious and was asking people for advice and then disagreeing with anyone who responded to him. If you get a hold of him and ask how he went about it and then do the exact opposite, you should be golden.

First off --key to remember the first word in SP, is service---this is a personal service industry---that is key....what does good service look like?

1. Good looking, friendly ladies--ladies who actually enjoy (or can fake it well) being with clients--have reasonable limits, are upfront about them, give the client the whole time booked....and a really friendly, enthusiastic 7 is better than a stuck up, cold 9...
2. Appointments made easily and kept
3. A good location that has decent furniture (full length mirrors--just saying), good lighting and decent shower
4. A location that is as anonymous as possible...big places near Fairview mall are great examples (this would be one knock on Hammer's...that apartment was little small for my liking) easy parking and not right in middle of residential areas....and do not piss the neighbours off so they complain ( I remember one lady telling me she gave the super freebies to keep him on the good side!)
5. Appropriate market prices and a FAIR sharing of that with the ladies...
6. Good website---pics of ladies that are clear and accurate is key...and accurate calendar that is kept up is great

do all that and you'd have a great biz....and I'd say I have described Hammer's business model pretty closely....

Probably going to be snow on the ground before I make any calls to get this fleshed out, but good to have the information anyways. Besides, now I have a summer project of working on my scouting skills. . .

By the way, anyone else notice that either Hammer is back from the dead or has an impostor?

for the incall and outcalls let the girls decide what they feel comfortable doing. Some agencies will provide both incall and outcall and only some girls do both or just one.

The prebooking and a moments notice is a hard one since your going to have one or two sp's that are more popular then the other sp's so you would have to go prebook with them and the others being not so busy would be on a moments notice. But on a moments notice would at least have to give 30 to an hour notice.

One could say that scouting for quality SPs is more difficult than landing civilian ladies
