First of all, there is no need to remove the toilet guys....leave that to the ones that know. Once you lift the toilet you have to replace the wax seal. Otherwise you are gonna have one smelly bathroom until it is replaced.
And Badnick, there are two bolts holding the toilet in place, not 3.
Be aware that these toilets are made of ceramic, very brittle and very heavy. Lift it the wrong way and you can throw your back out.
Remember the KISS method, Keep it Simple, Stupid. Just rent a snake and forget the drill.
Actually, my older toilet has 4 bolts, so there.
My newer one, which is a low flow Kohler suffers big time from lack of power.
I have contacted Kohler and they have told me that I might have lime deposits around the rim, and to plug the holes around the rim with wet paper towel and plumbers putty, then pour in some CLR overnight. Oh yeah, and to reem the holes out with a paper clip.
I did all that, and still no power.
I have had the bowl off, couldn't see any obstruction, but didn't snake the pipe.
Funny thing is, if i use the plunger to plug the exit to the toilet, flush it, let the bowl fill up with water then remove the plunger, the water screams out of there with a nice "ga-loog" sound when done.
Pretty much like it should.
But just flushing the thing, Nope, no power.
That's why i bought into the plugged rim holes.
Very weird.
My friend also had a Kohler and he complained of the same thing. Maybe it is something particular to their design. I dunno.
All I know is that the thing plugs very easily on next to no paper.
It's about 6 years old, and driving me fucking nuts.
My older one is an American Standard that uses more water, but you could drop a brick in that thing and it would eat it.
Haven't gone up to the roof to check the vent yet to see if it's plugged but that's about all i can think of, orelse the Kohler is just a piece of junk (which my friend swears that despite the "bold look of Kohler" that they are crap.
Pun intended.
