If you have such a hardon for the GT 40 get a pre-73 DeTomaso Pantera. It is a super exotic with similar specs and is a reality. They go for 25-35K.

hahhaa considering the car in the link isn't even on the road yet, I don't see it being 34 yrs old!!

Any word on if they are going to produce this beast??? I would hate to see the price tag as the Bullitt mustang was going for about 40K.

This new GT40 will scream at 500 hp and 500 lbs ft of torgue. A sure neck snapper........

Wasn't that the car that Tim Horton took his 'last ride' in?

5.0.....

I have an 89 5.0 lx trunk model. It's black with grey interior. The air still works and I put the 5 star pony rims on the car. I've had it for 9 and 1/2 years. I absolutely love the car. Let's put it this way. If Vin Diesel jumped my car off a bridge, I'd have to hunt him down.

Horton was racing a fellow Maple Leafer from Buffalo to Toronto. They had a bet on who could make it to MLG first. Timmy was in a Porsche 911, the other guy was in a plane. Horton crashed into an overpass not 100 metres from my front door.
It's part of modern folklore in these parts. Hey, we don't have much else.

Down there....
i'm not so much of a Mustang fan, but the 1970/1971 Ford Torino GT/Cobra make my eyes glaze over! "Styled by the wind!" was Ford's advertising slogan at the time for the Torino GT! A body style that rivals the beauty of the 1973/1974 Dodge Charger!

You spent $14K on a BD gift for a buddy!!!
Now I know what you mean by 'connected guy' ! ;)
He must be a good buddy. Did he cry? Immense tears of joy!

Time horton was playing for Buffalo at the time of his death. He was driving back after a game at MLG. He was tired & 'beat up' which you would expect for a 45yr old man still playing defence in the NHL. After the game, he met with his business partner, for a few hours in regards to his ever growing donut business. He then drove back in his Ford Pantera(included as a gift in his contract) and crashed. Speed was the reason given. He loved to drive fast.

This is all according to Punch Immalac in his book Heaven & Hell in the NHL! Punch was against getting the Pantera(Knowing his love for driving fast) but Horton insisted on it.

Like I said, this is a part of the car culture folklore in these parts.
He still died only 100 yards from my front door, unless he's hiding out with Elvis somewhere.
