There goes #3 ???

Yeah, just read the reports from overseas, instead of the glowing press releases from the US Goverment and you will see that your crowing has turned into a very large crow that you need to eat.

Mode of Operation of Bush Admin

1. Something Happens.

2. Spin immediately and hard that it is the greatest thing EVER!

3. Say it is because of Dear Leader.

4. Move on to next over-the-top declaration of Dear Leader's greatness before anyone notices what happened is not the greatest thing ever, but actually made little or no difference and may have even made things worse.

5. Blather, Rinse, Repeat!

Hallelujah, Great Leader has his facts ...uh... wrong again.

Maybe next time, before you go “whooping away,” however BIG, you might get your facts straight.

Boy, oh, boy this war on terra is really going well! Whatever happened to those Wanted: Dead or Alive Posters that W wanted? Where’s Mullah Omar? Still outsourcing the search for OBL to the warlords, as Kerry correctly pointed out during the campaign? Do we need more troops in Iraq, as General Shinseki pointed out?

Maybe you need to sign up, Lange, to go fight your Glorious Leader’s war in Iraq? Or are you one of those chickenhawks who just bloviates about the war and sends poor whites and blacks, woefully underarmored and underprepared, to fight for you? You probably like reading Jonah Goldberg and the other members of the 101st Fighting Keyboarders.

Big whoop? You were probably exultant about the exploits of the now-deceased Pat Tillman. "Killed in the line of battle! A great American."

Guess what, asshat? Pat was killed by friendly fire and the Generals and the administration knew about it when the announcemnt of his death was made. But because it played so well into the story of our Great Leader's war, why let the truth get in the way of a good press release?

Pat Tillman WAS a great American, but not because of the asinie reasons and glorification of him that you subscribe to. Pat was willing to put his *comfort* and his life on the line to give something back to his country, something that millions of Americans --- people like John McCain, John Kerry, and Ted Williams --- were willing to do. And yes, something that chickenhawks -- like Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Goldberg and, yes, John Wayne -- were NOT willing to do.

So when will you be visiting a recruiting station, Lange?

Probably, unlike you I have done my duty for my "Vaterland". My country had called me for duty and I went, not that I really had a choice anyway.
To my luck I never had to got to a war, by now I am probably too old to be good for anything. If called I would go..of course.

You, and your kind, are soo transparent(obvious was the wrong word). You spend a lot of time complaining and whining about the "evil empire", but are most likely to be the first to cry for help.
Don't worry, it is called "free speech" and regardless of all your bashing the USA will save your sorry ass too.
If it wouldn' be for guys like Tillman, your first language would be "German" and the only freedom of speech, would be reciting "Mein Kampf".

I suggest you read about, how many soldiers have been killed by friendly fire.

Mode of operation for TO and Mr. Charley: Bleat on. TO believes that he has a monopoly on "the facts" and you both have the holier-than-thou attitude of a pederast priest. I am continually thankful that we do not have to depend on you and your ilk for our collective safety and defense. Your aptitude for assinity is truly amazing. The lack of thought that is evidenced by your regurgitation is the essence of vomica. Ignorance, stupidity and ugliness are the constitution of your vital statistics. You should both be candidates for living on an abandoned island.

Welcome to the world of reality, Vietor.

There's no need for me to describe my own service record which left me partially deaf in one ear. I put my ass on the line and served proudly with guys like Pat Tillman.

The list of chickenhawks associated with the leadership of the Republican party is staggering. If you would have had to depend on those guys for your safety, maybe we would be speaking German right now.

Once again, we see the true spirit of the right-wing chicken hawk. My lack of thought? Puh-leez! Just make sure that facts and reality don't get in your way of having a dumb-assed opinion.

So, by the way, jagoff ... care to enlighten us on just exactly what part of what I stated constitutes "ignorance, ugliness, or stupidity"? The circumstances of Pat Tillman's death? # 3 not being #3? The Wanted Posters?

And to Lange ... I know about KIAs by friendly fire. The point is that the Generals and the administration KNEW of Tillman's death by friendly fire at the time the announcement was made. Instead, we got this press release, wringing of hands, and adulation from the right-wing Fox News crowd about what a brave American he was and how he supported Fearless Leader.

What is it, Vietor? You haven't heard this. Or are you just terminally ignorant of the facts?

As is typical of you, you misunderstand. My comment about ignorance, stupidity and ugliness had to do with YOU, not just what you were spewing.

As to your service record; I would thank you, but my sense from what I have read from you leads me to conclude that you would be much more comfortable around the likes of John Kerry than you would be around Pat Tillman. Carry on numbnuts.

Well, actually, numnuts, I am highly educated, have a high IQ, and am quite handsome. LOL. But you seem to never let the facts get in the way of having an ill-informed opinion. You see, my friends, this right-wing nutcase, calls ME ignorant, stupid, and ugly with no basis whatsoever in reality. Like I said, his opinion is what drives this poor soul. Yup. NEVER let the facts get in the way of your opinion. Truly laughable.

As to who I would be more comfortable with, I certainly salute the service records of both Kerry and Tillman. Kerry did win several awards for valor, but no doubt you believe the bile spewed forth by the Swift Boat Thugs.

But then I have noticed the lack of service in harm's way of everyone from Fearless Leader to Cheney, Frist, Hastert, Rove, Delay, Guiliani, Perle, Feith, Abrams, Gingrich, O'Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh (I had a boil on my ass), Savage, Buchanan, Scalia, and Thomas.

So, tell us ... if you support this lovely war in Iraq, why hasn't your sorry ass been there?

Calling someone with a different opinion than your own stupid. Doesn't say much about your own intelligence.
More of the same from the left. The mantra of "We are the true holders of the facts" and "We are so much smarter than you" get's a bit old.
Like someone else has mentioned here before, this is one of the reasons while the D's are losing ground in the USA.

In my preceding email, everything I stated was my opinion (a fact). I was attempting to vividly demonstrate the difference between fact and opinion by engaging in hyperbole. Not surprisingly, TO still doesn't get it (a fact). He was able, however, to express his opinion that he is quite handsome, has a high IQ and is highly educated. All are comparisons. Despite his opinions regarding how he compares, he continues to confuse what is fact and what is opinion (another fact).

It is easy to discount the opinions of those who state theirs as fact and don't understand the difference.

GOP Exploitation of Pat Tillman

More comes out on the sorry GOP handling of this episode!
Guess this is how that present Hen-House full of Chickenhawks, Bush/Cheney/Rove/Wolfie et al., handle things!
Yeah! Go Team Go !
RAH! RAH! RAH!
LIE! LIE! LIE!

Exploitation of a hero

Palm Beach Post Editorial

Monday, May 09, 2005

Pat Tillman gave his life to the U.S. Army. The Army, in return, killed Pat Tillman and turned his death into the centerpiece of a lie.

First, officials lied to Cpl. Tillman's brother — also an Army Ranger — and then to the rest of Cpl. Tillman's family. Investigators knew that fellow Rangers, in an act of "gross negligence," fired on and killed Cpl. Tillman near the Afghan town of Manah on April 22, 2004.

Then, officials, including forces commander Gen. John P. Abizaid, lied to the nation, allowing Americans to believe that Taliban fighters killed Cpl. Tillman. It made a better story — "an inspiration," the White House called it. Pat Tillman had given up his $1 million-a-year-plus National Football League salary to join the Army after the Sept. 11 attacks. He was the kind of hero whose sacrifice motivated others to join. The nation mourned Cpl. Tillman during a nationally televised memorial service, never suspecting that the event was propaganda.

But the Army knew. Is it possible that the commander in chief didn't? Could Army officials deceive him in such a high-profile case and escape punishment when the truth came out? The Army admitted in late May 2004 that friendly fire killed Cpl. Tillman. Just this week, The Washington Post revealed that officials knew the circumstances well before the memorial. As in all the other scandals, no one high in the chain of command has paid a price. Seven soldiers present at the attack were given administrative reprimands. A year before Cpl. Tillman died, the Army and administration had turned Jessica Lynch's capture and rescue into propaganda, but at least in that case they were not exploiting her death.

Confusion explains part of what happened in Afghanistan. Brig. Gen. Gary M. Jones, who conducted an investigation at the request of Cpl. Tillman's family and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., found that "some soldiers lost situational awareness to the point they had no idea where they were." They thought they were under attack when they fired on Cpl.. Tillman, who had set off a smoke grenade, was waving his arms and shouting, "Friendlies! Friendlies!" They also mistakenly killed an Afghan ally.

Confusion in battle is one thing. Something else led soldiers to burn Cpl. Tillman's bloody uniform and body armor the next day. Something else led the Army to exploit Cpl. Tillman's death and intensify his family's grief. It wasn't the heat of battle. It was cold calculation.

i have never disputed the fsct that Tillman was shot by friendly fire. Or that his death had been used for propaganda purposes.
The way the story is written in the Palm Beach Post, exploits a tragedy to score political points. Not surprising by their standards.

He was not the only one that was used. Remember Jessica something, she got rescued by the marines?

War propaganda is a means to keep up moral.

I always find it interesting that the military overwhelming votes Republican. Every election Democrats work to disqualify the military absentee ballot. Yet every internet liberal claims to have been in the service. Odd.

Well Pete if you think that is odd, get a look at all the following fine GOPers who avoided and ran like hell from any military service when it was their turn but now flock behind their Chickenhawk Commander-in-Chief 'W'!
Funny how they all wave the flag but never wore the uniform!
I'm sure you will find this SUPER ODD then!

Prominent Republicans who dodged military duty

Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert - avoided the draft, did not serve.
Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey - avoided the draft, did not serve.
House Majority Leader Tom Delay - avoided the draft, did not serve (1). "So many minority youths had volunteered ... that there was literally no room for patriotic folks like himself."
House Majority Whip Roy Blunt - did not serve
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist - did not serve. (An impressive medical resume, but not such a friend to cats in Boston.)
Majority Whip Mitch McConnell, R-KY - did not serve (1)
Rick Santorum, R-PA, third ranking Republican in the Senate - did not serve. (1)
Former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott - avoided the draft, did not serve.

GW Bush - decided that a six-year Nat'l Guard commitment really means four years. Still says that he's "been to war." Huh?
VP Cheney - several deferments (1, 2), the last by marriage (in his own words, "had other priorities than military service") (1)
Att'y Gen. John Ashcroft - did not serve (1, 2); received seven deferment to teach business ed at SW Missouri State

Jeb Bush, Florida Governor - did not serve. (1)

Karl Rove - avoided the draft, did not serve (1), too busy being a Republican.

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich - avoided the draft, did not serve (1, 2)
Former President Ronald Reagan - due to poor eyesight, served in a noncombat role making movies for the Army in southern California during WWII. He later seems to have confused his role as an actor playing a tail gunner with the real thing.
"B-1" Bob Dornan - avoided Korean War combat duty by enrolling in college acting classes (Orange County Weekly article). Enlisted only after the fighting was over in Korea.
Phil Gramm - avoided the draft, did not serve, four (?) student deferments

Senator Don Nickles, R-OK - Oklahoma - Biography does not list military service. However, CNN lists Army National Guard service 1970-1976.
Senator Richard Shelby, did not serve (1)
Senator Jon Kyl, R-AZ - did not serve (1, 2)
Senator Tim Hutchison, R-AR - did not serve (1, 2)
Rep. Christopher Cox, R-CA, fifth-ranking Republican in Congress - did not serve. (1)
Representative Saxby Chambliss, Georgia - did not serve (1, 2), had a "bad knee" (yet somehow feels he has a right to attack Max Cleland's patriotism)
Former Representative JC Watts - did not serve (1, 2)
Jack Kemp, did not serve (1, 2) (was unfit because of a knee injury, though he heroically continued as a National Football League quarterback for another eight years - source)
Former Vice President Dan Quayle, avoided Vietnam service, got a slot in the journalism unit of the Indiana National Guard when the unit was at 150% capacity (at least he showed up for his duty, unlike GW) (1, 2)
Eliot Abrams, did not serve (1, 2) (however, played a key role in subverting democracy in South America)
Paul Wolfowitz, did not serve (1, 2)
Former Representative Vin Weber, did not serve (1, 2)
Richard Perle, did not serve (1, 2) (is the current bloodshed in the Middle East a direct result of his treasonous meddling in Clinton Administrstion foreign policy?)
Douglas Feith, Undersecretary of Defense for Policy - did not serve. (1)
Rudy Giuliani, did not serve (1, 2)
Michael Bloomberg, did not serve (1, 2)
George Pataki, did not serve (1, 2)
Spencer Abraham, did not serve
John Engler, did not serve (1, 2)
Lindsey Graham (R-SC) - website used to claim service as a "Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm veteran." A current biographical website makes no such claim. In reality, was a National Guard lawyer who never left South Carolina during the Gulf War.
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-CA, did not serve (1)
Rep. Darrell Issa, R-CA/49th, there were some problems with his service.
Rep. John M. McHugh, R-NY - avoided the draft, did not serve (1)
Arnold Schwarzenegger, CA Republican Governor - went AWOL from his Austrian army base to enter a bodybuilding competition... this is hysterical!

This is by far the most balanced and fair list I have seen.
Mostly absent from the list, all the peaceniks that demonstrated against Vietnam, spat on the soldiers on their return and hailed Kerry as their hero forty years later.
Fading memories, a cornerstone of politics.
