So, compared to the classic? What do you think?
Action looks good, I just don't know if I'll like the actors/characters in comparison to The Road Warrior in particular.

They voiced over the guy in the mask though, not the voice in the movie.
I sure miss the narrators for trailers though, something they don't seem to be doing as much anymore.

Sorry, it looks like shit.

I really loved the original one, and I see no need to remake it other than just plain bankrupt of new ideas.

Today's action films suck ass in comparison to most of the "glory days" of action movies from the 80's and early 90's.

I'm just waiting for the Bloodsport remake.

It should be brought back, it's time is due. I like the three leads of the film, Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and Nicolas Hoult (X-Men: Beast). The film takes place in the interval between the first and second film. Nathan Jones is Lord Humungous.

They are shit, agreed. It's relying on CGI a whole lot and they're rehashing old titles, Indiana Jones is another.
Although, I do like what Marvel has done with their comic series, X-Men, Avengers, Iron Man (which is a personal shocker at how good it turned out, minus Gwyneth Paltrow).
Otherwise, 80s and 90s were incredible for movies and in my opinion like yours were the the glory days.

Like I said, if they can continue to flog Star Wars why not another Mad Max film. And George Miller who made the originals is directing again.

Tom Hardy and Mel Gibson have something in common - they are both alcoholics. Mel broke through in 1979 with Mad Max and Gallipoli. Tom was not yet 25 and his first three credits were Band of Brothers, Black Hawk Down and Star Trek:Nemesis. He lived the Hollywood lifestyle hard with both alcohol and cocaine. After bitch-slapping Paul Bettany he left Hollywood for London to clean himself up. It would be seven years before he was cast in Inception.

I caught part of "The Expendables 3" on the plane the other day. (I didn't even know that there was a 2) and it was fucking awful. I caught about 30 minutes or so as it was a flight to Montreal, but it was contrived and nothing but mass shooting and killing and impossible stunts. (Though I did get a bit of a kick seeing Wesley Snipes getting asked why he was in jail responding, "tax evasion".

But believe it or not, I was thinking about why today's action movies suck ass so badly compared to the action movies of yore and I thought of a few things.

1. The old action movies tended not to be nonstop killing and shooting. Take for example, "Predator" (which I will still watch to this day), or ditto "True Lies" or "Terminator". They had suspense. Expendables had shit. Also, in the case of Terminator and Predator, the killing was not on a massive scale. Predator, it was one by one with the suspense building each time.

2. They had humour in them (True Lies especially, or Terminator)

3. It was not all CGI'd to death.

I've lost count how many times I've seen Predator Tiberius.

But George Miller is in control and it's very good cast, so I'm wiling to give this new one a chance.

Trailer No.2 - Miller gets his Verdi out no less!

The fact that a new 'Mad Max' film is set to be released soon in not new news.

I thought there was something else to add.

I, for one, am looking forward to this one.

I don't bother with Hollywood anymore, everything is a prequel or a sequel or a remake or something based on a comic book or tv show. Unfortunately the studios won't back anything original anymore because they're afraid to lose money.

Same here, the trailer looks nice. Technology is also much better now.

It looks like this is supposed to be another film in the series, rather than a remake.

The trailer looks a lot more like the Road Warrior than the original Mad Max.
