Come on, people, do we believe everything we read or hear about?
I am currently typing out of boredom at the moment, in Playa. It is terrible weather here as well, no doubt remnants of the Polar Vortex that is hitting you guys at home. Rain, clouds, no sun all week. My thoughts...
1. It makes me laugh that Global news picks this pretty girl to splash all over their news story. I'm sure they got lots of hits... which is what they want
2. Doesn't it seem odd to you that this poor newly engaged girl "fell" over her balcony? What was she doing that close to the edge anyway? I'd never venture that far, let alone lean against something, Toronto for sure not Mexico - EVERYONE knows how shoddy the workmanship is here. Her resort is known to be one of the poorest quality (based in Spain)
3. Plus, probably she had a glass of champagne to celebrate? Or maybe 6 tequila shots, and we know her cheapo all-inclusive resort isn't serving Patron, let alone Cuervo, it is probably the shittiest bathtub tequila there is.
4. How come the doctors couldn't give her painkillers despite getting her $2000? How come her fiancee had to restrain her, was she an angry drunk? How many of us know from prior experience that any drugs mixed with alcohol know that it is a very bad combination...
5. Why is it so shocking the doctors/hospital want a deposit first, before they risk their reputations and responsibility for dealing with a sick/hurt and possibly drunk person that requires surgery? These private hospitals here have US/Canadian trained doctors, have good equipment and resources, and you get what you pay for. My friend got sick here last winter, and same thing, she either paid deposit with CC or cash, but instead she made a call to her insurance company and they covered everything (it took 15 min phone call to be authorized). I visited her in the hospital here in Playa and it was impressive... she said the doctor was very competent.
6. Why wasn't she wearing her precious wedding ring? Would not she want to show it off? Why wasn't it in the room safe? If you leave something valuable ANYWHERE there is a chance it will be stolen. Wallet, iPhone, diamond ring, anything. Toronto or Mexico.
I hate one-sided sensationalistic news reports. We don't know the whole story. I may be speculating. But there is more to this story I'm sure....
I hope the girl recovers quickly and fully.
End rant.
