The criminals not getting guns legally is not the point. It's the fact that they can get them as a result of the legal gun owners who resell their guns into the black market, or those who have negligent storage practices. I'm against all firearms being banned btw.

I do know most of the illegal guns come from south of the border, but a big chunk of them are from here as well.

They serve no purpose for the average citizen, and should only be used for police or military applications, or those who require them due to the remoteness of where they live. They can't be used for subsistence food acquisition. In civilian hands they cause death, injury, and property damage every year, not to mention pollution and the indiscriminate death to wildlife. To legally use one, all you need to do is pass a simple test. What am I talking about? Is it handguns, "assault rifles", or personal watercraft (seadoos /jetskis/water ski boats)?
