Metrolinx workers will receive an 8.45% pay raise just days before last month’s provincial election.

Jenna Mannone, spokesman for Treasury Board president Deb Matthews, said, while the government has said there is no new money for public sector wage increases, existing funding can be re-allocated.

“The collective agreement reached between the Amalgamated Transit Union and Metrolinx did not use any new money from the province,” Mannone said in an e-mail to the Sun.

They're simply going to increase budgets to public sector union departments and pass the money along to the lazy bums. The fund to fix schools for example, a lot of that money will go directly into the pockets of the greedy teachers union.

This will be a comment-less thread. The lefty loonies on here only get angry if there is Conservative-bashing involved. Liberals and NDP are free to be corrupt. TERB's left wingers will ignore it.

If it is true they have not used any new money what is the issue? What was your raise over the last 5 years?

Again, I hope you're still screaming the virtues of the Reform Party when you're being dragged out of a hotel room by Toronto's Finest!

Any monetary gains you think Harper has afforded you will be washed away trying to defend the charges.

Albeit this thread is referring to provincial politics in my books the conservatives have lost all credibility across all three levels of government.

Yes I admit my hatred for them is derived from Bill-36, calling me a pervert and the obvious lies spewed during the committee hearings.

"GO service will pay its staff the 8.45% salary hike by raiding other public funding it receives that wasn’t meant to go to salary increases."

"Last month, Education Minister Liz Sandals (nazi) said the same thing about upcoming negotiations with the province’s teacher (nazi) unions.

As she put it, the fact there’s no money in the provincial budget for teacher (nazi) pay raises, “doesn’t necessarily mean there’ll be no wage increases ... if you can find savings in one part of the collective agreement ... you can have an increase in another.”

In other words, teachers (nazis) will get richer and, for example, schools will fall into an even worse state of disrepair than they are now."

8.45% over 4 years is cost of living, barely covers inflation.
What is wrong with that?

The GO gravy train

But defiantly contributes to it,...

Why would some one get a raise,...just because,...???

There is NO increase in productivety in civil servant postions,..and in some cases,...the opposite is true.

So why a raise,...OH I forgot,...unless you give us a raise,...we will shut down the "X" government service,...I guess that's as good reason as any.

From where I sit, on my broken arm chair full of holes, my disposable income goes down because of taxes, which goes to pay wage increases for the government work.

What should be done is a tax cut, and wage cuts.

What is wrong with that?

How much is appropriate when paying for roads, schools, healthcare, police, transit, clean air and all the other provincial services that keep you and yours safe and able to prosper? Why should that cost go down? Do you and we need less of such stuff these days?

Oh, and BTW, what do you pay each month to bring TV into your home? Compare what your tax-dollars buy to TV's lasting contribution to your well-being. It might be instructive.

Less than half of what I earn \

Right now the average Canadian pays more than half of what they earn in taxes
Govt\s waste money.
Why should half go to those that waste it

After or before taxes?

A cable bill is a drop in the bucket relative to the taxes I pay
enough is enough
