Angry hotel workers hitting the picket lines again Saturday – this time, at the Holiday Inn on Bloor Street.

Of course, this second day of job action comes as countless celebs are checking in for the Toronto International Film Festival.

The cause got some A-list support Friday as actor Martin Sheen and his son, Emilio Estevez joined the 24-hour picket line at the Royal York Hotel.

A third walkout is planned for Sunday at the Hyatt Regency.

Talks broke down Thursday night between the union representing city hotel workers and management, sending 900 workers onto the picket lines.

The employees have been without a contract since July 16.

The dispute is over shift hours. Workers say they want to spend more time with their families.

This is absolute bullshit. Among grunt workers, GTA hotel employees are amongst the most pampered in the world. Non-gratuity staff (room attendants, front desk, maintenance, cooks) make at least $17 an hour, full 8 hour shifts, good benefits and staff meals in most hotels. Those that rely on gratuities (servers, doorman...etc) can make a killing, especially at a high end property. For their relative lack of skill and english, these guys do pretty darn well and now they want more in an industry that is still recovering.

Spend more time with their families indeed.
