Ok, this is just getting plain silly. As the usual goes we have millionaires fighting billionaires fighting over a somewhat (the feeling of some people) overpriced sport. And the people who are getting seriously hurt in the process are the low to medium income people who's jobs are predominately affected by this strike. When this crap started with baseball, I became so disillusioned that I have never sat down and watched a game again (whether in the stands or at home). It will be the same with hockey. They will never get another cent out of my pocket. It will instead go to see a whole season of hometown hockey instead of just a few games of "The Show".

For this rant, I will take my aim at the owners. Yes I feel that hockey players are overpaid (at least the "allstars"), however they have bargained in good faith. We have seen the open market system in all its glory and detriment. If the owners are all concerned about containing costs, they should think about starting in their own backyard. How about they implement their own salary cap, instead of demmanding it from the players? State how much a team can spend on salaries and stay within that limit. Learn to budget people. Most normal people have to do that. But they can't because of greed. Greed for more money, greed for fame and greed to be a champion at any cost.

Take the rollbacks that the players have offered, and live within a self imposed salary cap. Create a "luxury tax" against teams that overspend. Have that tax go into a special fund to be distributed to charities. The teams are punished and the NHL gets a big tax break.

Lets face it, most of the owners do not have the hockey team as their bread and butter. Most recognize it as their big "sandbox" to play in it as they see fit. There is no financial incentive to end this strike because they are not getting hurt and the only ones getting hurt are the "underlings", the players, arena workers, bar employees, hotel staff, etc. How about making it hurt for them. Lets make it personal too them. Find out what companies they own. Find out where their bread and butter come from and refuse to use their services. Make them feel the pinch for a change.

OK, I am tired now..but feeling oh soo much better...Now bring on the girls. LOL

Humm....3 straight proposals without a counter-proposal, I don't think the NHLPA can be bargaining in good faith by just turning down a proposal and not taking the proposal and working with it.

BTW...this should really be in the Sports Forum.
