For you few Xoom owners out there, watch out for those updates!

"A number of Motorola Xoom customers both on technology forum Whirlpool have cited poor battery life, Wi-Fi connection problems and errors with the Xoom's SIM card since updating to the 3.1 software version"

"Amongst reported issues include an invalid SIM error, which can only be resolved by rebooting the Xoom, frequent crashes in the web browser and decreased battery life. Some users have reported less than a day of use before the Xoom's battery drains, compared with up to five or six days of sporadic use before the update."

And look! Incomplete support for Flash!

I don't understand this sentence. Flash has been working - in full - since I bought mine, long before 3.1.

The other stuff sucks for the people with those units though.. but it doesn't impact anyone in Canada, the SIM model isn't sold here.

The Australian Xoom was just released in the beginning of July, it is tied to a Carrier there(Telestra). They made a mistake sending out the Honeycomb 3.1 update before it had been tested and modified to work with the carrier properly, so they stopped sending it out. the hundred or so people that received the update a few of them had problems.

it's always best to quote things from the source, instead of relying on sites like Techworld to give you things in proper context and omit what they think you don't need to know lol The link you provided does not give the whole story.

It also should be noted that Xoom owners in Canada don't have sim cards as it's only wifi available here. The Honeycomb 3.1 update was rolled out a couple of months ago in North America and 2 weeks ago Motorola began rolling out Honeycomb 3.2(the final version before icecream OS)


Here in Canada Motorola Xoom tablets are fully functional now with SD card support, Flash support and USB root host support(allowing for mice, gamepads, portable hard drives etc)
And the price has now been lowered to $499. for the 32GB model :biggrin1:

Gee i'm flattered lmao, but clearly that's a sad excuse to deflect the fact that you didn't read your article properly or check it's source ;-). I only use the "headlines" from the article i'm referencing, I don't need to attempt to make up sensational attention grabbing headline lol nice try though

I posted an article verbatim, you noticed an update to the article and pointed it out.....twice lol and now a 3rd time sheesh

The article later added that the study took into account Android tablets that were shipped but did not say how many were sold. Apple reports iPad sales as sold.

Here is the addendum from the article, which as you noted was added later....

EDITOR`S NOTE: While the numbers in this story are all accurate (with respect to the study), the original version didn`t point out the distinction between tablets sold and tablets shipped. This oversight has been addressed.
