Better the scientists & geeks report this problem before it becomes wide spread. 8% of the 35,000 free apps tested have this particular vulnerability but they did not release the actual name of the apps for fear that the bad guys would know exactly where to look.
As far as Blackberry or Apple apps - the scientists only tested Android. I would wonder if multi-platform software providers would show the same vulnerability.
