And I missed it!!!!
Silva went the full 5 rounds? That's never happened before! He hasn't gone past the 2nd round in any fight has he?
Chuck had a good run with the UFC. Plus He's a CPA isn't he? I think he's pretty well set for life! LOL
Styles make fights....
Leites couldn't mount anything against Silva....And everytime Silva pressed the attack on Thales, he just flopped onto his back...
The Spider was frustrated...He through a lot of flashy and original moves but he just couldn't finish the fight because Leites kept falling over into his guard...

Definitely not a fight to remember..

Silva's style is starting to get frustrating to watch. I know Dana isn't liking it to much that's for sure. It was funny to hear the fans chanting GSP during the fight. Before I would have said that there was no way that GSP could beat Silva but now I'm thinking that just maybe he could pull an upset. It would all depend on what weight the bout was contested at. Intersesting that Silva came in at 182, maybe a catchweight of 177lb's. Oh to dream.

Chuck should consider this his exit and leave with his head held high. He was one of the best in his time but that has past. Congrats to Mark Bocek. He's improving with every fight and the UFC will have to keep him in the game.

UFC Planning Shows in Boston, Toronto and New York in 2010
Submitted by TomCasale on April 16, 2009 - 6:42pm.

UFC president Dana White is targeting Boston, New York City and Toronto for upcoming UFC shows. White is confident that Massachusetts and New York - two states that currently don't regulate MMA - will soon embrace the sport.

White made his plans known during today's UFC 97 pre-event press conference, according to MMAJunkie.com.

White was born and raised near Boston and has long been interested in taking the UFC there. Massachusetts is currently a hotbed for MMA and even hosted a past tryout for The Ultimate Fighter Spike TV reality show. However, despite the sport's popularity in the state, Massachusetts does not currently regulate MMA.

UFC officials believe that thanks to a recent political push, regulation will occur soon.

"I'm pretty confident we're going to do an event in Boston, Mass., at the Boston Garden in November," White said.

Boston boasts a population of about 610,000 and its greater metro area includes nearly five million people, making it one of the most lucrative markets available to the UFC.

A bigger market than Boston is New York City. The UFC has been very vocal in the fight to get MMA sanctioned in the state of New York. Despite the opposition of a few, most are optimistic that legislation will pass and the state will begin MMA regulation by the end of the year.

Toronto, which is Canada's most populous city with 2.5 million
residents, is another prime site for the UFC to hold an event.

"The first of the year we want to do a show in New York and
I'm hoping we have Toronto done before New York," White said.

This is great news for MMA fans, especially those of us who live in the Northeast. I live in New York, so hopefully these jokers who call themselves politicians will get their heads out of their asses and allow MMA to come to the state by the end of the year. Get with the program fellas.

And he lost his fight to get on the show, so hopefully he will now be history.

To me, Anderson Silva looked like he just didn't care, he threw about one punch per minute, and when Leites went down on his back, Silva just walked away, instead of pouncing on him.

Since I hate them both, as do many others, I would look forward to watching them beat each other up.

I agree that it was horrible, but I understand why they did what they did.

Frankly I'm shocked this doesn't happen more often. You just DON'T go on he ground with a guy when that's his only hope of winning. And likewise the ground guy has no business trading with maybe the best stand up guy in the game.

I guess there must be enormous pressure exerted behind the scenes - bordering on staging - to make fighters sell out and fight someone else's fight for the sake of action and quick outcomes, otherwise any more bouts would be defined by guys refusing to be dragged out of their best style.

i think Leites is garbage. I'm not saying silva was sooo amazing where he just clean Leites' clock at will but when he did get the chance, he rocked him. Can u imagine fighting someone who acts like a pansy constantly falling on the ground? like im sure if silva took Leites to the mat he would just jump on him and beat him down. but Leites was basically walling to his back whenever silva got close. it was a horrible fight.

I want to see Leites take on Kalib Starnes next time, that would be an awesome fight.

Perhaps in a regular fight, it would be ok to walk away when your opponent lies on his back. But Silva is supposed to be the best, he should have beat Leites at his own game, just to prove he could, and to give the fans what they paid for. GSP would have.

And is it really more cowardly for Leites to lie down than for Silva to refuse to go down. They are basically both refusing to fight the other guys game. So they are both equally cowardly, as far as I am concerned.

I agree. Silva should have been more aggressive in this fight. My favorite,Fedor, would have jumped on him and kicked his ass.
