My unsolicited observations and suggestions after dropping in last night:
1. Same craphole interior so no changes on that front. My suggestion: update things a bit and go ahead with the rumoured changeover of Huggies to the Flamingo Room style.
2. No cover (I always thought it was a joke that this place had the gall to charge a cover). Good call IMHO.
3. A couple of dancers I hadn't seen before (and a couple more came in to speak to the new owners while I was there – apparently starting work tonight), several regulars, a couple of returnees from a few months back. More dancers than last time I was in – and only a couple of really scary ones (see below). Hopefully we will see more and better looking dancers as the changeover continues.
4. I have to wonder about a couple of the dancers though: one huge (250 pound plus) black girl who asks me for a dance every f***ing time I’m in there. I’m no slim Jim myself, but my job doesn’t depend on me being either. Lose the fat, ugly or unkempt dancers – or at least give them a shape up or ship out ultimatum.
5. Another sort of attractive (in a girl next door way) dancer, but she needs some coaching on how to dress and dance. You’d think management would have a vested interest in the girls looking their best – her outfit did nothing for her fairly attractive body and her stage show was the same old rhythmic walking. Don’t shy away from giving suggestions and tips to the dancers on how to improve their appearance – it’s good for both of your businesses.
6. Apparently the new management has told the dancers to lighten up on the restrictions. I got an extended lecture from a dancer I’ve known for a long time about how she has too much respect for herself to allow any of that. I guess that explains why I was her first and only dance for night at 11:00. The competition is offering more so you either have to compete or get out – that’s the way it works in any business. Continue with the more relaxed rules since Roxanne's has already cornered the high end, no touching market locally.
7. Met a VERY friendly dancer from T.O. named Chantel. Attractive black girl with a nice body, but a bad set of man mades once she popped the top. Best mileage I’ve had here ever. Hopefully this bodes well for things going forward – the more mileage the better.
8. They didn’t have Interac or credit card as of last night, but I was told by the manager that they would be getting it (hopefully) today. These are a must for those impulse buys, although doing it without the hideous fees encourages more spending in the club at the bar and on other “services."
