This is for anyone who watches the show, American Hot Rod on The Discovery Channel.

What happened to Charlie? The last I saw he went off to be with his father (who was sick) and I haven't seen him since. There were some ambiguous comments that lead me to believe he quit, but I've missed some episodes so I don't know what the story is. Did he quit or is he just on hiatus?

Charlie quit

He was sick of the timelines and being over worked and left Boyd for the competition, Foose.

there is an episode when Charlie quits and tells Boyd he's landed a job with Foose.

Boyd freaks out and tries to make Charlie feel like he owes him something

personally I think Boyd is a goof,he expects the world and more from his employees while he's out rollin around in his Bentley while guys like Chip Foose are right in there working with the guys..... Boyd actually slams Foose in the episode labelling Foose and his Father assholes.

Charlie was offered a job by chip foose that allowed him more time with his wife and kids and to compete for a prestigious award. He was also unsatisfied with the deadlines boyd dropped on them and felt that he wasn't being allowed to do his best work. If you actually see the episodes where charlie leaves i was disappointed with boyd's reaction and treatment of charlie. I think it all takes place during the rebuild of a classic woody.

Damn, I missed it! That sounds like a classic, must-see episode.

Boyd is the poster-child for poor management skills. If he was operating in Canada, his workers would be unionized by now.

I don't blame Charlie for leaving one bit. Boyd seems to be picking deadlines out of his ass with neither rhyme nor reason, just "I think it should be done by whatever the next holiday is". I think his business will really suffer for losing Charlie.

Ahh, it's so funny. Yet another one of Boyd's employees is quitting on him. There is a god...
