So I just finished watching the season 2 finale and I must say I was disappointed with the second season. Season 1 was WAY better. I think the first one being a true ghost story was much more interesting than the insanity-themed (and very unfocused--the alien story angle was completely unnecessary) second season. I also didn't really give a shit about the characters in season 2; the highlight was the first episode (always a bad sign) when the hot chick is talking about getting fucked in the ass and blowing Adam Levine. It was all downhill from there! lol
Hopefully season 3 (which has now been confirmed) will right the ship and take us back to the original (successful) formula.
EDIT: Just found this about season 3 and it sounds like the message is getting across:
As "American Horror Story" fans already know, Murphy explained that next season would feature a "Romeo and Juliet youth story." Viewers were sucked into the tragic tale of Tate and Violet in the season one Murder House, and Murphy said that their type of story is something that he missed about the season two "Asylum."
