In the laboratory.
I came across this article in the Washington Post. It's by Zbigniew Brzezinski who was Jimmy Carter's national security adviser. What a breath of fresh air in the current atmosphere, i.e. both articulate and commonsensical. Well worth the read for those interested in such matters.

Interesting article

Some often heard positions (internationalize the control in Iraq, hand over control to Iraqi’s sooner). I would disagree that there is a culture of fear or paranoia in the US but I would agree that the US is more willing to act than wait.

I'm in violent agreement with the need to rebuild our intelligence capabilities. The liberals in our government have, over the last 40 years, tried very hard to limit our intelligence capability. We can see what happens when we act without proper intelligence.

"The liberals in our government have, over the last 40 years, tried very hard to limit our intelligence capability."

Hmm, might be a contradiction here. :)

Re: Ideo-tainment

OTB's comment brings to mind another interesting article I read, this time in today's L.A. Times. The writer there suggests that a lot of american political writings/debates is best termed ideo-tainment. http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion...1,7895725.story?coll=la-news-comment-opinions

Such an approach to political discourse is not to my taste. I'll pass on it.

Great article, you're two for two.

"The authors simply package in print more or less the same conversations, castigations and condemnation that they offer through celluloid or on the airwaves. It's not unreasonable to call it ideo-tainment. "

Unfortunately I don't have a vast media empire to channel my brilliant thoughts through... LOL

a degrading of US intelligence capabilities (as supported by the article in your link) is an example of fear or paranoia in the US?
