Newsgroups and torrents are your best bets....;)

Newsgroups are the best but they are not free.

why bother downloading music? tons o free internet radio.

anyway, I would force encryption on both...use non-standard ports.

good ol' XDCC packet bots & fileservs on IRC have been around as long as usenet...also good too, not P2P, leech wheee! encryption plugins and scripts such as DCC-Assist make it easier...I used to use it with mIRC on Windows. http://crazynuts.hollosite.com/chat_p2p/dccAssist_v1.79.zip

Don't really download as much music as before. Been using Linux 'sound recorder' a lot to digitally copy songs right off Internet radio, therefore bypassing having to download them. The big plus here is even the RIAA Record Nazis can't track or stop that....;)

With Linux sound recorder you can copy, an entire JAZZ.FM91 program, then pick out the tunes you want and save them.
