It was early evening (7pm'ish) when I saw a bunch of loiters hanging around Joseph Sheard Parkette (behind Yonge/College).
I though nothing of it.......until they saw me.

I was walking towards my parked car on Granby St when a punk-a** wannabe thug saw me, chug his bottled Coke, threw it in the air and strutted towards me in a menacing way all the while he can be heard shouting obscenities about beating the sh*t out of me!

It happened so fast.....I couldn't run, I made direct eye contact with this troubled individual as I kept walking. He came within 2 steps of me and he was about to punch me when his entourage told him 'NO'.

Whether it was an initiation or something for this fucker to show his manhood, he almost attack me unprovoked.

I weathered the storm so to speak as he backed off and told me how lucky I was.
Too bad in real life, there is no immediate justice to punish these bullies.

An angel was on my side tonight and I could only hope for this person to realize that his time on this planet is dwindling. Cockroaches have more purpose on earth than this lowlife scum.

If only I had superpowers....hehehe

* On a final note, as I'm not into racial profiling......the group of thugs were black. They stereotyped their own race and I bet that their immediate family would be ashamed of their criminal thuggery behaviour!

I chose not to live in fear but to embrace any challenges presented by lowlife scumbags who intimidate or assault the vulnerables in our society. Take back the city from the SCUMS!!

Sadly, if all upstanding citizens choose to turn a blind eye to crime, we are just as responsible for allowing crime to flourish.
Toronto the Good is now...........Toronto Not So Good.

Glad to hear that you came out of it unharmed.

that's the important thing.

An investment in some pepper spray might be a wise choice.

Not sure of the legality of it however but it has paid dividends for some people I know.

A gent I know was accosted at a gas bar by 3 punks at around 3am in Hamilton awhile back.

He managed to get away in his car but they pursued him in their vehicle unaware that he had a can of bear spray in his car.

He stopped after a few blocks and they pulled up next to him.

when they opened their car door he let them have it.

One can only imagine the effect bear spray would have on three thugs in the enclosed confines of a car.

He calmly drove home with a smile on his face.

Sad to hear that, it is tough in those situatuions because you either fight or run. Plus you're right, downtown Toronto can be somewhat dangerous if you don't have your radar on for crime/trouble makers, especially if you're alone etc...

If I have to go out at night though particular areas (blocks, really) I carry a knife. Period. I'd rather be alive to plead my self-defense case from a jail cell than laying dead or raped on the street while my attackers get away, likely to never be caught & punished for their bad deeds.

Angel? Nah, I bet the whole thing was scripted. Probably done it many times for some pathetic kick.

The problem with carrying a knife, especially in a situation where it's several punks against one person, is that it is easy to disarm you and then use your own knife to assault you. Bear spray is a better bet, at least if you get a face full it won't kill you. Carrying a weapon is about giving yourself time to get away, not about trying to kill the assailant (or yourself).

I wonder if the purpose of the guy who was trying to intimidate "The Finisher" was to provoke a pre-emptive response. Kind of like the guy who walks up to you and makes a motion to hit you, but then stops short to see if you flinch. If Finisher had reacted by take the offensive and hitting his assailant first, they (the group) probably would have grabbed him, roughed him up (or worse) and then claim that they were "defending" themselves. This is the kind of thing that young people with no real experience and nothing better to do find amusing.

As to racial profiling, generally when I hear about at shooting/mugging/assault I tend to go by where the incident takes place to make my determination as to the race of person likely involved. Especially since the media no longer identify participants by race. I am not sure where logical deduction ends and racism begins.

Well at least his black brotha's told him "NO!" and not "Nah!" For all you know, if they said "Nah" he would think they mean "Yeah" and you'd be in even more trouble.

Hopefully this young black thug gets help, gets arrested or even gets "taken-out" before someone innocent gets harmed.

What a 'worse than useless' place that particular park is! It's an eyesore and it attracts bums, ne'er do wells, and crackheads from all over.

the hobby needs more capitalism
you're a racist idiot CF!....where's your white hood and tablecloth?...i've been attacked by a group of white thugs in Waterloo.
The difference is if the thug's skin color isn't white, we're "not suppose" to mention it. Somehow, that's license to behave like that. Fuck that.

---------------------------------------------------

Haha.....when is walking on the pedestrian sidewalk considered provoking them?
One of the punks had a rottweiler that was actually smiling and wagging his tail. The dog was probably the least frightening of the group of 5-6 individuals who could have ganged up on me like a pack of hyenas. I wasn't scared about dealing with someone one on one but when there are 5 others, you have to think and act smart.

Anyway, I think Mister K is right.......the one thug wanted to intimidate me but I didn't flinch.
However, had it been a senior, child or woman in distress then the circumstances of me responding would have been a given.

* Unfortunately the thugs that I encountered will only fuel the stereotypes for the black community. And going forward, unless I take some sort of self-defense courses I will look into the bear-spray mace as an alternative defense.

Peace, over and out.

I was just asking because your original post didn't really specify the prior events.

Kudos for keeping your calm. Who knows what those fuckheads problems were.

I know someone (young white guy) who was literally walking down a street, a group of black guys walked past him, and one of them punched him in the face. I guess they thought it was funny.

Yes. I know. I have also taken weapons training (required for my day job). As far as trying to get away, not likely if the attacker is determined. I've had to physically defend myself before and I will do whatever is necessary to save myself - running or attacking. I don't care which. I do tend to employ all tactics to avoid confrontations, and I do not "look" like a victim. I walk with purpose, make eye contact, respond when spoken to & never turn to look behind me after passing someone if if someone has said something to me. Obviously I am doing something right because the last (& only) time I was attacked on the street was 1990.

I use to spend quite a bit of time (1989-1997) hanging around the fleshpots in Times Square NYC. Was almost mugged twice and had a knife (BIG) drawn on me once. When you are walking along 43rd Street in Times Square in 1990, WALK FAST.

How is that racial profiling? The guy who almost actually did something to you was black. Telling us he was black is just stating a fact.

Racial profiling would be saying "Stay away from all blacks."

* On a final note, as I'm not into racial profiling......the group of thugs were black. They stereotyped their own race and I bet that their immediate family would be ashamed of their criminal thuggery behaviour!
