Do you think the CFL could-would survive if ALL the players were CANADIAN?

There are MANY FINE CIS players that never get a real chance to show what they have in the CFL because of the influx of US players

Talk amongst yourselves.

Yes, it can survive or even flourish, especially if the local fans identify with the local players. Is it legal to barred non-Canadians?

I actually find the Canadian game with its larger field, bigger end zone, 3 downs and kicking and punting rules much more exciting NFL. I hate the fair catch and returning the ball to the 20 yard line if booted into end zone NFL rules.

Why is this a question ??? The CFL is about 100 years old and have never had that senerio .... Although I would have a rule that if an American plays in the league for 5 years ( 18 * 5 games ) he will obtain a non import status ...

Its just a thought for discussion and YES at one time the players were all Canadian. Maybe not in the MODERN era but back in the 30's 40's.

no the game wouldnt survive, have you ever watched the top canadian quarterbacks in pre season or training camp intersquad games. There would not be more than a 15 yard reception all game long

Stop importing QB's and we will develop the local talent. To think otherwise, is to think that Canadians are inherently physically and mentally inferior to Americans which all know is not true.

No chance, it's bush league the way it is, to further diminish the talent pool would be a death sentence, try watching a CIAU game, there's your answer.

DING, DING, DING.

You must remember that there are only about 25 Universities in the CIS which are already much lower quality then the NCAA, and you are asking them to feed 8 teams?

Compare that to over 500 Division 1-A and 1-AA and Division II Football Schools in the US, Feeding 30 teams.

Also the best athletes in the states play football, not hockey. Kids are taught much better.

Asking the CIS to fill the entire league would be a disaster. The lack of quality quarterback play in the CIS is already startling.

There is no five yard rule in the NFL when catching the ball so the 'fair catch' is needed so the kick returner does not get killed.
I also like the larger field of the CFL, but lean toward the four downs of the NFL. I like the CFL passing game a little more and I prefer the larger end zones.
I absolutely hate the one point for kicking the ball into the end zone.
The Gery Cup could be won on a missed field goal, no thanks.

To answer the original question I think the CFL could survive if all the players were Canadian.

Ultimately I like the NFL a bit more.

Drum roll please ...

I am a Dallas Cowboy fan, have been for about 30 years.

The only CFL rules I HATE are
the 5 yard punt rule. Watching all these guys TRY and stay out of the way of the balll is sometimes hilarious.

MOST kick returners are AMERICAN and know how to handle the ball.I talked to a HTC Coach once a awhile ago and he told me the 5 yard rule THROWS off the timing of a lot of returners as they are brought up from minor football to College with the fair catch.

I agree with the one point for ball in the EZ sad way to win a game.

Good idea

Do you think we would notice a decline in level of the play ?

Not much I think

We subsidize that league so why should our taxes go to Americans ?

Presently it is a "I could not make the NFL league" and how is that Canadian?

Put a team in Halifax as well as Yellowknife and Rankin Inlet and one in Labrador :D
