There are portables and there are window units.
Been seeing a lot of Danby portables going back to walmart.
Xscargo had some LG refurbished for $200. A place I won't expect to buy quality from.
But will definite take the extended warranty if I bought here.
Costco has a good return policy if it shuts down but they cost a bit more.
Same might be said of places like Futureshop and Bestbuy.
I'd take the extended warranty if I bought a portable from them.
I saw a guy on Kijiji at Yonge and Gerrard with some great prices.
I highly doubt he has a return policy based on his cheap prices.
If I did go with him though, I'd choose the Amana vs the Danby etc.
They've been doing Units for years.
Most people say they get better performance out of window units which are also cheaper and more reliable.
They might be a real pain to install into your window a la Seinfeld episode though.
Then you may have to remove them for winter to seal the window properly.
Again a hassle.
