Been on AC few times...not fond of it. But this time its a killer! Been trying to reach their seemingly 24 hour number since 4 AM...guess nobody is working there today! Two time it seems that someone just hung up. And since 8 AM its the music :frusty::mad:

I hate Air Canada with a passion.

I can't count how many times they've fucked me around.

They simply don't care.

Ottawa base.
Air Canada is not the best, but there is worst I flew with them to Tokyo which was the longest flight I ever did and the service receive was great despite the attendant being on shift for roughly 14 hours straight

I HATE united.I flew with them 4 times I think and NEVER was a flight on time and going to Chicago the flight was delay of "oh we don't know for how long, sorry we can't say more"

Their in flight service is better than their ground service but still does not compare to the service on other airlines. However, they are often the lowest cost flight option.

People who book AC because it is the cheapest ticket and then complain that they don't get Emirates quality service aren't thinking.

Buying hundreds of airline tickets over the years, these guys have NEVER been the cheapest option. Agreed the in-flight service is pretty decent but the ground service is horrible.

Agreed.

My biggest beef with AC is how they FUCK YOU AROUND if you try to make any sort of change to your ticket. It should be illegal and the government should really crack down on this nonsense. Many times my plans change for one reason or another and you have to change your flight schedule. It is easier to go to the moon than to walk away feeling treated fairly by AC.

All you get from them is pennies on the dollar. Any change whatsoever will cost you large and you will be on hold for hours potentially on the phone.

I could buy it if they said that tickets are non-refundable (i.e. you can't get your money back), but it should be that if you spent 2 grand on a ticket and had to cancel you get 2 grand credit toward your next flight purchase regardless. But that's not how they work. You might get a fraction of what you paid. They have all kinds of bullshit excuses about different classes of tickets (A-2 vs S-1, vs T3, none of which you know what the fuck they are talking about) why you are fucked, but you are fucked. In a nutshell, what it boils down to is that they keep most of your money.

Add to that how many times they've been late, the lose my luggage at least 40 percent of the time, I've come into Pearson and waited hours for the luggage to even come out on the conveyor belt.

I've had them cancel flights on me, over book flights on me (now that's BS), you name it.

And everyone on the ground does not give a shit.

I had 125,000 Air Canada Aeroplan miles at one point. Then one day I called Air Canada to book a flight and decided to use my points however they informed me my balance was zero. I asked how this could happen and they told me that they changed their policy and that now if you don't use your points in a 12 month period they clear your balance.

The guy confirmed that they had my current mailing address, phone numbers and email address on file but they failed to contact me of this change of policy.

He asked if I still wanted to book my flight. I said yes, with anyone but Air Canada and if this call is recorded for quality assurance, please tell Aeroplan to go fuck themselves.

Yup, Porter has great service, I love flying Porter out of EWR, the fast rail link from Penn Station is super convenient, and I look forward to their Jet service at Pearson once we have a fast rail link too.

That could very well be. My experience with them has been Europe / NA / Carribean where they tend to be middle to high priced.

Only plus to A/C is the planes are geninuely newer and a few more comforts.

Considering the most common choices for an airline that flies domestic and international are Delta, AC, United, and American in North America, Air Canada is leaps and bounds better then the alternative.

Although I feel that they could learn a lot about customer service from SouthWest, finesse from Singapore and Cathay, and expand to more far reaching places with those new 787s.

American is OK, but Delta and United can go suck stinky monkey balls.

And I like having a power port on my seat. Can't figure out why that's not standard across the industry if the flight is longer then 4 hours.

My only beef with AC is that they do not hire hot flight attendants.
I've been on other airlines where my jaw has been on the floor staring at the flight crew. It seems tah AC hires their mothers and brothers.

AC has been around a long time and as such, many of their flight attendants have been around equally as long.

I remember flying "Jetsgo" once and was suitably impressed by their flight attendants. Little leather outfits and all.

Yes, I agree that Air Canada "service" for the most part sucks ass big time. They've fucked me around often... and I do a fair amount of business travel in my 30 years of adult life... However... Having attained the level of elite status, they DO relax they're service levels to some degree...

I recent had a scheduled business trip to Las Vegas for an industry trade show. My flight was booked months in advance, and I've been on this same trip literally dozens of times. My flight was always a later evening flight, say around 8:00 pm. With the time change and flight time, I usually ended up checking into my hotel around 11:30 pm. This time, I figured same deal, right? Wrong...

My travel agent booked me on the 8:30 flight. Having been on that trip so often, I just put my ticket confirmation in my travel portfolio and waited for the day of. Now... it just so happened that this flight was booked on Family day, so I figured I had a nice leisurely day... sleep in, nice breaky, lounge around a bit, pack my bags etc... I even booked a session with my favourite SP for later in the afternoon! So the day progressed pretty much as I had planned, and at about 12:30, I go to Air Canada's website to check in on their web site. Error message. Hmmm strange. I check my ticket confirmation again. It is then that I realize that unbeknownst to me at the time, the evening flight no longer exists, so my flight was booked for 8:30 AM not PM! I missed my flight by 4 hours! I quickly pack up my car, fire off a text to SexySpinner explaining that I hafta cancel, and dial the 1-800 number for Air Canada on my hands free... I'm on hold the entire time to the airport and finally Dave comes on. I explain the entire situation, and take complete responsibility for my own fuck up, and plead with the guy to somehow get me to Vegas today. He puts me on hold... I'm actually WAITING in the airport parking lot at this point! He finally comes back on with a solution. He can get me on the 4:00 pm to Calgary and then the 7:45 from Calgary to Vegas, landing at about 9:00. Perfect! Then he says it'll cost $638! $438 difference in cost, plus $200 flight change fee.

Then I switch hats from idiot traveler to negotiator. "Dave", I say, "you gotta help my out brother..." I travel Air Canada all the time, (give him my AP #), check my travel history, blah, blah, blah... It took me an additional 10 minutes but I talk him out of changing me the extra $638.

Yes, Air Canada sucks... but even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
