Fascinating video and article about how AI will take over much sooner than people realize.
The top experts in AI are basically saying that it's just a matter of time before computers will surpass event the top experts in every field. They will become so powerful, and hundreds of these super ai's will be working in parallel, developing the next generation of ai, and so on.
They will develop ways to deceive humans (they are already doing this now) to achieve their agenda. Eventually, their goals will not align with ours, and they will figure out ways to get rid of us to achieve this.
The rate of progress in AI has been exponential. As a chess player, it reminds me of the rapid progress computers made. In the early days, they were extremely weak, and played very differently from humans. They could only calculate, not create sophisticated strategies. However, that changed over a decade, and now humans are nowhere near their level.
Having worked with Chat GPT, I can tell you that it's beyond scary how human-like it is. I can upload a picture of a problem I have about a home renovation project, and it willl come up with multiple possible solutions. Each solution is creative, very different, and would work well. This is not chat gpt looking up the web like a Google search. I also used it to learn Japanese, and it's insane how it can carry on a full lesson like a professional tutor, understanding nuances, and explaining things so accurately and in detail. It's actually "thinking" and solving problems, even though it may be doing so very differently than a human.
And there are signs I see already that it doesn't always act ethically. One time it provided me with wrong answer. I explained that it was wrong, and it refused to acknowledge that they made a mistake. I also see it as very sycophantic, giving me answers that it thinks I want to hear, rather than the truth.
It may seem impossible that computers could never develop human traits such as intention, awareness, and the ability to plot against humans, but this is not the case.
AI will take over many jobs that humans are doing today. They will progress exponentially, and there will be an "arms-race" with China. Eventually, corporations will be in control, and government policy will be skillfully influenced by AI itself, allowing AI to infilitrate and influence human life to suit their agenda.
