Hope everyone is well.

After D.Trump has signed SESTA/FOSTA, a lot of sites shut down. However, there are a few ones left like page20, eros, bedpage ect.

So my question is, what make then different then Backpage? Are those sites not scared of the new law?

Is there something that I just missed? Not that I want these sites to shut down, aren't they worried the FBI come after them like they did to backpage?

Perhaps those sites are Canadian based?(I know eros is not) Would that make a difference?

Is there an answer to this?

Thanks for all your reply

According to the FOSTA, criminal penalties will fall on all residents who "owns, manages, or operates an interactive computer service...with the intent to promote or facilitate the prostitution of another person". I loosely say residents because of the various limitations of jurisdictions; there's still plenty of room for translation.

However, for those sites who have voluntarily shut down, those who run them are looking for new owners who will also host the sites off-shore in places outside of the act's extradition limits, like Russia, Indonesia, Bosnia, and (ahem) Vatican City.

It will depend that they follow a trail in North America. I just did a basic lookup and registrar is in Texas, the IP address is pointing to a location in Montreal, and the founder is from California. If the persecutors can prove that their site 'promotes or facilitates the prostitution of another person', then they should get everything in order, hide their money, and bring lube for a shutdown and a court battle.

You hit the big guys first and make an example out of them and then take out the smaller ones.

It's only been less than a month... look at how much damage they have caused to the industry and they have yet to flex their muscles. They have lists and they keep updating them with the full cooperation of Silicon Valley.

Based on the Legal definition of Prostitution & everyone with a half a brain knows what " Seeking Arrangements " means I think they have a strong case & I believe they believe they have a strong case. I would be moving that i.p. out of Canada. If the owner is an American citizen , living in Canada, The Canadian Government will cooperate with a extradition request
