ADVICE PLEASE ! personnel object forget by friends visiting a lady

Hello all,
I have a situation very complexe now at the moment.
A friends have meet a lady yesthurday at our location,
and have forget a watch Rolex $$ $$$ value ( my estimation )

We have the watch at the office in safe place, but i have try to call the friend this morning,
and he dont stop hang up and say wrong number.

i have speak with my receptioniste to know if it was the right number, and if she remember to have confirmed this number by calling back the custumer at the time of the booking.

So we are sure to have the right guy and the right number.
ok probally is busy or was not able to talk at the moment WE dont KNOW,
but if i was him, $$ $$$ Rolex value , i was going to run back pick up my watch soon as possible....

if this gentlemen reconize himself ( the contact number are from the west coast of canada )

contact us soon as possible please.

Well, you have proved due dilligence by trying to contact him. I'd just sit on the watch (not literally) until he decides he wants it back.

You might try texting him if it was a cellphone number he gave you to confirm on.

Before automatically giving the watch back I'd make sure he can ID it via a model number, type and colour of band or an inscription if there is one.

texting is a good idea., but be discrete with the message in case his SO reads it.

i have texte no reply ( i dont want to send more them 2 texte message in 24h )
YEs we going to ask him few question but is going to be easy to identify the guy with his contact number and the girls he have meet.

is it not my style, to go to the police station ( and have to explain how this watch have came in my hands) but thank you for your help i just dont want to keep it , just want give back to this gentlemen his watch. I have say a big thanks to the girl to have bring it back to me soon as she can.

i guess we put that on the safe and wait to get a call from the owner.

p/s if i ask this here is to have a guidence about CALLING BACK a custumer without his authorisation. Discretion is prior, This is why is a men call and not the Receptioniste. ( just to not use a women voice on the phone )

You know how many would have just pocketed the watch and kept their mouths shut...many

Well if you can not contact him until hes back on the West Coast you could send it UPS (I am sure he pay for it).

I am with you about going to the police...what if the watch just happen to have been reported stolen..aren't each of those watches mark with numbers? Here you are trying to be an honest man and gee you could be sorry after wards.

It can happen, I too own a Rolex. A lower end model. A few years back, I saw an sp who always worked around the airport. I forget her name. I saw her for an hour. I settled at the end of the session. I handed her what I had in my pocket and asked her to count it to make sure it was right. Anyway, just as I got on the 427 she called me and told me I left my watch and shorted her 20. Anyway, it took me almost 1/2 and hour to turn aroung and go back. Got my watch and she got her 20. She was a bit upset, as I think someone was going to be there any minute. So a tip for everyone, leave your watch and wallet in the car.

finally.... update

Unfortunately a lot of the rolexes today are fakes.

i understand today why the loundge forum is usefull for this kind of think.
The gentlemen Mr.xxx have finally contact us. he was in a meeting all day
and have return our call .

Well this gentlemen is very nice to johnny he have decide to give me a gift lol. he have informed me
the ROLEX was a fake models and he have a dozen of those .................

Nice ! now all going to know JOHN WEAR A FAKE WATCH lol lol
