Yesterday, the dear Cardinal, took temporary procession of my best friends cat. I agreed to take care of the cat for a period of one week while he is away on business. I really enjoy pets but Cats just freak me out! This cat is psycho! As I was sitting at my computer to finish some work last night, the little pecker kept attacking my hands. After locking the feline in the bathroom, she proceed to scratch the crap out of my door. Anything that moves, she attacks. Walk across the floor and lunges and bites your ankles. The dear Cardinal has had to dawn his suit of armor to protect himself. What is with this beast?

What the hell can I do to tame this feline? If this keeps up I will drown the bugger in holy water!

I don't know about drowning the little thing but water just might be the answer...keep a spray bottle handy and when the cat chases you or annoys you give it a couple of squirts - hopefully that'll keep the pussy away ;)

I tried that rayven. My furry friend didn't take too kindly to the water in her face. After I placed the spray bottle down she attacked it with EXTREME PREJUDICE. I'm kinda freaked out just picking it up now.

Seriously, have you considered medicating? Gravol seems to have a sedative effect on our furry friends. Wrap a pill in a piece of that Kraft petroleum cheese slice product and feed it to your feline charge. If one doesn't work, don't be afraid to try two.
Regards from your friendly neighbourhood pharmacist and lay vet,
Queenie.

Umm I could be wrong (i doubt it)

But two gravols os more than enough for a PERSON, imagine what it could do to a poor little kitty cat?

I got off the phone with a vet and they advised my NOT to give the cat any medication like Gravol. As for what the vet recommended, patience and a sense of humor.

not a good idea, that would likely make any cat very ill.

BAD THING.

prescriptions

Animals react differently than humans to medications--something technical about chemical half lifes, etc. If I remember correctly, it actually takes a lot more Valium to calm down a dog than it does a human. Some vets are pro-medication, others against. Same goes with owners. To each their own, but sedatives can make things like air travel considerably less traumatic for pets. Fang, if you're uncomfortable medicating your cat, maybe medicating yourself would help :)

Kooley, you almost made me spill water on my keyboard. ;)

CF.,

I sympathize man. I like dogs. Big dogs. But the wife likes cats, and we moved into a condo so....we have two of the little buggers. At first I hated them, but I admit they do kind of grow on you.

The best thing you could do, is contact your friend. He can probably give you the best advice. That suggestion about squirting water was probably the worst thing you can do. Cats remember, and they are beasts of revenge. If your friend has no helpful info, just be totally calm around the little prick, make no sudden movements, resist the urge to punt kick across the room. I looked after one that behaved the same way. Never again.
