advice for a trip to cuba

I'm considering visit Cuba after the new year.

I'm looking for advice from any hobbyist here that's recently completed such a visit.

FYI, I've already went through worldsexguide.com/org/etc and other sites.

Just looking for additional information, hidden gems, best places/cities to go, which hotels are friendly to working girls, common scams, do they have high STD rates like South Africa, total costs involved, etc.

Cuba:

I heard from a very reliable source that there will be a crackdown starting in January. Currently, you can't take the girls to the hotels but Casa Particulars (private rooms rented out by Cubans) are OK. This is about to change. You will have to be married or "engaged" to the girl. The latter involves paying $150.00 (USD)to the Cuban authorities for the necessary paperwork. Unless you want a mistress this would not be a viable option.

I hate crackdowns, but they've happened before. Another city where you'll find a great deal of fun is Santiago. The previous crackdown seemed to have less effect there. I was there in November last year and saw one girl for pretty much the whole week. We quite often walked by policia hand in hand without so much as a second glance. Try doing that in a resort area and the girl is likely to be hauled off to jail. However, even in resort areas, fun can be found. I went to Santa Lucia in April and found a hot little honey the first night that I spent many a night with. The girls will know where to take you. Just be discrete and you should have fun.

I recall hearing that Fidel cracked down hard in Nov 98.

According to what I read only major cities had the police going after the girls and only if a tourist talked to her.

I was wondering.. what is the background of your source? Goverment? Works in Travel?

I have heard that this new rule was struck down and will not be implemented. There will be a restriction though of one girl allowed to stay with you for the duration of your stay at a casa. I can't really say that this is from a reliable source but apparently it will be announced to house owners soon. If I hear more on this I'll post it here.

This applies only to legal casas. There are plenty of unlicenced places that will have no such restrictions.

Bring lots of tee shirts!!! The local girls love all the things that you'd take for granted like toothpaste, asprin, and north american clothes like Levis, Hillfiger, ect. I gave a local girl some Blue Jays T-shirts and $10 USD. She was wild!! No holds barred and she was really into it. This was a couple of winters ago and I think she was 18 or so.

When I was in my teens, a co-worker was telling me about the business trips his uncle would take to Cuba.

His uncle was some bigshot at Revlon or one of the big cosmetic firms and he would pack one suitcase for himself and one suitcase just full of cosmetic products.

He would pay off the girls with lipstick, lip gloss, etc.

Sound plausible?

Selina, are you implying that the girls in Cuba are forced into prostitution? These women are not drug addicted whores or slaves paying for the right to leave the brothel. They are for the most part regular girls looking to supplement their income. Cuba has free education, housing, and medical care and all Cubans are guaranteed at least a subsistence level of living. Of course, their standard of living is extremely low compared to us but they are not literally forced into prostitution as is the case in some Asian countries. They also have a totally different attitude towards sex compared to most Canadian women. Many of them actually enjoy the experience or at least make the best of it. The lower rates for their services is a function of supply and demand - there are more girls than tourists so the rates are low. Also, to a Cuban $20.00 is a lot of money - probably the equivalent of a few hundred dollars in Canada. The sex tourism business is one of the few ways that US dollars flow through to the average Cuban. This is in contrast to the money earned through joint ventures (hotels, mining etc) which goes straight into Castro's pocket.

I went down to Cuba in April of this year for one week. The first night there, I got drunk, extremely, and ended up with some girl. I still can't remember how. I probably paid her $20US. That didn't make me feel good. Afterwards, I returned to the same little bar where I had been previous to my, little romp. A very cute girl kept eyeing me and eventually came over and sat with me. We got to know each other a little bit. After a while I walked her back to the place she was staying bid her goodnight and promised to see her the next day. Met her the next day, spent some time with her. She had to go back home for a couple days but she promised to return to see me. I waited, she came back. We spent about 4 nights together through the week. In all of that time, dancing, having dinner (very inexpensively) and generally just hanging out together, walking together and enjoying each others company, and sleeping together, she never asked for or expected any payment at all.

The last afternoon, when I was leaving to come back to Toronto, she waited around as long as she could but had to leave to go back to her home town. She graciously asked me for ten dollars so she could get a ride back. About an hour and a half ride. I gave her all the money I had in my pocket at the time. I think it was about a hundred dollars US. She gave me the biggest and sweetest smile I have seen in one hell of a long time. That made me feel good (and sad to be leaving her behind).

Like LateComer said, the majority of the girls that engage in the sex trade in Cuba are just in it to earn a little extra cash. Sometimes to feed their kids, help their family, or buy a new pair of nike's or a nice dress. Generally, just to make a living. Is that really much different than the reasons in this country. I think not. And some, believe it or not, are just out looking for a little fun.

Twenty dollars goes a long way in Cuba. The doctor at the hotel I stayed at made about $20US per month. The dancers in the after dinner show made about $40US per month. A "working girl" can make $20US (or more) for a single night.

I agree with revolver. $20USD is about a 2 month's salary down there and the Cubans are some of the nicest people you could meet.
They do get free education but the sad thing is that they all want to work in resorts because that is were the big bucks are made in tips. Sad but true.

BTW, the Cuban girls do see themselves as prostitiutes. They really get into it and they told me no cum...no pay. I never got to find out if that was true

Too much red tape

From what I understand the only way you can bring back a Cuban girl is by getting married for one, and then dealing with a years worth, or more, paper work and red tape, and money to bring them to Canada.

More or less it is not worth it. It would be way cheaper to leave them in Cuba and send $20 USD per month and visit as oftem as possible.

Too bad the Cuban girls who make it here are "Canadianized" so fast.
