I'm talking to you guys, not the other SP's. I've never seen an SP refer to the "acronyms" she preforms. We usually use words like "services" etcMost sp's speak English as a second language just recently I began to notice native English speaking ones
Some dictionaries suggest "acronym" and "initialism" are synonyms, but I suppose they have more specific uses as you suggest. But really. BBBJ, DFK, MSOG - these are all initialisms, not acronyms
Yes, that one works. Although tbh i hear it more commonly said as an initialism ("D-A-T-Y")Some dictionaries suggest "acronym" and "initialism" are synonyms, but I suppose they have more specific uses as you suggest.
However... DATY... :eyebrows:
I like that acronym too. (Gee whiz, I learned something new today).I like STFU!
Initialism. haha. And me too. Thanks for the imbedding info.I like that acronym too. (Gee whiz, I learned something new today).
I know... this is what bothers me is that it has become common... Like vodka "martini"s... its just not right. HahaLike most of the English language, usage and definitions can change over time, and while the distinction may still be formally recognized, the word "acronym" has largely absorbed both meanings in common usage.
