I heard of an aquaintance who was hauled in for a alledged assault charge over the holidays drunk and disorderly! He was given a choice to be heard in a regular court or aboriginal court? He is a Euro Canadian, because he had a pony tail, and your native right? They asked if any native in his hertage, they said he could get out in a few days rather than 3 months wtf. What do think he said "hell yes"!

Has anyone heard such a crock?

The aboriginal justice system was enacted because of the large number of Aboriuginals in teh system. Apparantly the usual system did not take everything into account. The system for the most part has worked well with a couple of exceptions

Instead of Natives maling up 40% of the Canadian system, they now make up 100% of their own system. Awesome. if I get into a dispute with a native, can I proceed to the Native system and list the reasons how the white man caused me to do it?

Well that's kind of their point. They don't consider their land to be part of Canada. That's why they don't negotiate with the province, they'd rather deal with the Queen or Governor-General. They consider themselves a separate nation, and wish to be treated as such.

I wonder what kind of shape those half-built houses are in now at Douglas Estates in Caledonia? Did the natives finish them? They should have waited until they were closer to completion and lived in them...

The law is truly an ass!
This is not the first time I also have knowledge of other person of Euro asian heritage being tried in aboriginal court! Crown asks same questions he gets a get out jail card too! Lol.

hmmmmmm My Mother married a Metis and he had a card. In that case that means I became like a step daughter to him. Would that count?

Hey I want all the freedoms in life that I can get. On that note while he was alive he managed to get my one sister the land that she built her house on. It was only to be sold to aboriginal and not white people, but she got it. If I ever wanted it I think it could be contested couldn't it? Or would I need his number still?

Only blood relationships count, and Metis don't get status cards.
