Guidance to RMTs on COVID-19 – Gradually Restarting Massage Therapy Treatments

The Ontario government recently updated Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health’s Directive #2 for Regulated Health Professionals . As a result RMTs are now permitted to gradually restart Massage Therapy services. The Directive encourages healthcare providers to limit the number of in-person visits for the safety of healthcare providers and their patients.

Directive #2 allows for a gradual restart of services to be carried out with adherence to guidance from the health professional’s regulatory college. In the gradual restart of services, RMTs must:

Comply with requirements in the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 Operational Requirements: Health Sector Restart (May 26, 2020 or as current), including, but not limited to, the hierarchy of hazard controls;
Prioritize clients with essential care needs while gradually resuming practice. Massage Therapy treatment is considered essential when the client’s overall health or function would considerably decline if treatment were not provided (i.e. lead to hospitalization or other serious health consequences);
Adhere to COVID-19 Pandemic – Practice Guidance for Massage Therapists
Restart Massage Therapy practice gradually, ensuring enough time between appointments to clean and disinfect the practice environment; and
Regularly look for updates on the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 webpage and the CMTO website as the pandemic continues to evolve. Direction from the Ministry of Health and Chief Medical Officer of Health overrules anything that may be on the CMTO website."

Compared to you, 99% of people fit that category.
I disgaree.

If you believe the polls, they indicate that just 34% want the reopening to go slower. This means the balance, 66%, are fine to proceed with the curent pace of reopening (which has not been defined by Ford) or proceeed at a quicker pace. The problem with the poll is that the General Public does not know how fast/slowly Ford wants to reopen the economy. Ford will do what he did last time and reopen a bunch of services with almost no warning.

You do know RMT's services are about to resume...these visists do require close contact.

You are in the 1% - stop the reopening of everything at all costs. When CERB runs out people will be pushing Ford to reopen EVERYTHING NOW NOW NOW!!

Case of mistaken identity...

... 1,000 apologies

Carry On
No worries. My position has been, and remains, that despite being in a high risk group, shortly after they re-open I will go back to hobbying as long as my minimum preferred activities are allowed. If not, I won't waste the money involved, and will take the cheaper option of going to semi-legits, if only for the human touch and HE's.

I went to an RMT today actually. She is somewhat a free spirit loosey-goosey anyhow.

We both wore masks but we both agreed that regardless of the rules eventually people will do whatever they want.

As I said, you love describing everyone who disagrees with you that way. Do you at least admit you are in the 13% who think we are going too slow?

Most of us think Ford is doing a reasonable job but if you didn't realize, he just extended many of the orders again until June 8th.

How is it feasible to wait until a vaccine is made when they take years to complete ?....adding to that we know more than half will not take it.....at the best the saving grace is treatment...
Is there anyone here arguing for a complete lockdown until then or are you just looking for an argument?

Not relevant, Ford will keep extending the State of Emergency a piece at a time. The maximum it can remain is 28 days then he has to extend it again.

When Stage 2 starts the SOE will still be in place
