Unbelievable as it may be, the woman on the right is wearing a short skirt uniform proposal for Scandinavian Airlines stewardesses, as flight attendants were called back then. Thankfully and predictably for the conservative era before the rip-roaring 60s, the uniform was not approved.
On the left is Swedish Airlines stewardess Birgitta Lindman, who had earned fame around the time. She competed against 53 stewardesses from other airlines and won the contest to be featured on the cover of Life Magazine’s issue about jet issue about airlines.
