I thought I saw a while ago that someone was doing a "special invite" review list...
I am wondering how someone gets access to these reviews?

Not a big contributor to reviews myself, but have included my input. I agree with Pool. Thought the point of this board was to share experiences.

There are some private reviews created through this forum where only those with a certain number of posts can access those reviews. This is killing this board as these people are keeping their reviews private and also accessing the reviews that the rest of us post . Their reasoning is that they want to ban the lurkers but the reality is that many of us on here have not seen hundreds of SPs and have only reviewed those whom we have seen. So we would not get access to these other reviews and the impetus to post reviews no longer exists as it is not a two way street. Why should I post a review for someone who has access to a private review list that they have blocked me from because I have only seen "x" number of people to review?

Well said Jason8. But I really do not feel all that inclined to review anymore (I have done so freely in the past) to help those with private access to reviews that I don't have.

I only see SP in Ottawa 3-4x a year (more the MERB/MTL work trip chances) but yeah I don’t see the point. OTT too small to really do that. Kinda defeats the point. I’ll still post each time here though.

Do some reviews go away because of this? I think the first girl I saw in Ottawa back when I saw SPs instead of MAs was Tatiana and that was based on reviews from here - but there is hardly any info on her on the board, and she still posts on BP. Does someone pull the reviews down?

If reviews go private on terb, I’m probably going to stop reviewing. What’s the point.
I'm with you pool. I see this section of terb getting more useless as the years go by.

I know that I've not been busy too reviewing lately but when I have something to share I share it.

There is a couple members who feel they are terb . There will always be lurkers so be it if terb didn't want lurkers they would block them there is members do reviews on their blo and only letting certain members see it Pool has a very good point

So what happens to terb when most of the posts are questions on providers and lurkers not answering? Mind you that is pretty much the current state.

Maybe more people should start providing reviews so these so called “private groups” don’t get formed.

If you take take take you can’t complain when the givers go away.

There is no incentive to provide a review. The big threads now are about lurkers and the industry dying I Ottawa and have little to do with discussing experiences in the hobby.

Lurkers really don't bother me. The only reason I'm considering just leaving this board is the other members who don't respect personal experiences with SPs, don't respect individual choice and preference and instead of contributing valuable input, post 5 times a week asking have you tried her or posting useless jabs and insults at other members. I just posted another review only to have another member point out that I'd deleted and reposted (accidentally) and make passive aggressive jabs at me. Why?

I really want the ottawa board to go private now. Just so the supporters can experience how absolutely and incredibly short sighted that move is. When you create a community built on inclusion and participation and then remove that element completely, all you have left is a very small group of like-thinking individuals seeing the same sp’s. Then no new people can see the reviews until they get blessing from the private elite. Which means new hobbiests will not ever see these sp’s because they don’t have the reviews readily available.

Again, it’s just a very short sighted idea that is doomed to failure on so many levels. The Ottawa market is far too small to support it. This is not Toronto.

My main incentive (aside from a record of my experiences for my personal crappy/poor/aging memory bank) is to reward the girls who truly deserves it and warn others of truly bad experiences in hopes it improves the hobby. If you have benefited from my reviews, please contribute so I may benefit from yours. It’s win-win that way.

Great example of what not to do: Today, a new user with zero post count PMs me straight up asking for suggestions of names for certain services pleaseandthankyou. When I replied saying I don’t offer that kind of info to lurkers and he should participate on the forums he gives me attitude back saying that my rebuttal is the reason why he doesn’t participate. SMH.
Now just imagine being a woman in this business, having to deal with these types of poeople. LOL

Good point explained there. The reviews are obviously good for the hobbyists wanting to filter the good/bad experiences.

It also helps to put the spotlight on the good providers to keep them in the business longer.

Both sides have good arguments to support their points, but they should really consider the domino effect of a change before applying it :) just my 2 cents

There are two things that are killing this board: Guys who rip the reviews of others (especially new posters) and guys creating a spot where information is shared to only those with a minimum number of posts. Both of these things turn newer hobbyists away from the board and are definitely not welcoming to someone who may be wanting to see what this board is about. Justify it any way you want, but you are kidding yourself if you think that any list you create where it is not open to all those who go to this board is limiting the value of this board.

dynomyte you got something specific about a specific girl you want to ask? im sure you’ll get an answer. there is no hidden list with DDG sp’s on ottawa terb. do some sp’s want to be low volume and keep a few clients? yes im sure. what’s killing this board is we live in ottawa.

I didn't realize this board was dying. How many of you out there think it's dying? Raise your hands.

Yeah, I see some weird stuff happening like trying to create an exclusive little lurker-free forum within a forum. Is that a reason to think the board is struggling? I think maybe it was just an experiment. Don't know if it's thriving or not - don't really care. Out of curiosity I tried accessing it once but was denied, so I laughed and said "fuck it". If I can't access it, I must be a lurker, right?

Anyway, I think in general the industry might be changing and this board is just reflecting that. Demographics maybe?

Without naming names, I think part of it probably was due to some threads digressing and turning into jawing, insults or actual arguing. So the lurkers that make up the silent majority are turned off from signing on to contribute, and drives support for private review listings. That's my theory anyhow because I've felt that way when I was to damn lazy to actually logon, especially if I was on my phone. Anyhow, since rejoining the ranks of the employed, I'll be doing my part to contribute because the way I see it, the hobby only gets safer and better for punters and providers if there's a conversation going.

I didn't realize it was dying either. If everyone who thinks it's dying (and spends all their time on here just complaining about how bad things are) could just go away, I think the board would be pretty much the same as always, lol.

Whiteman,
Thank you for making my point for me. 36 posts does not seem like a lot, and thus gets be banned from the private lists. However, when I have had reviews to offer, I did and that is the point of the board now isnt it? It is not like I sit here and read but not participate. Truth is, I dont think I participate as much as others in the industry as a whole, but when I do I post. I bet that this is the same for others as well. That is how the board is meant to work in my opinion.
