I doubt that this will thread last more than a few minutes, but consider it a hearty fuck you to the navel gazers who worry more about their egos than any spirit of fun, satire, or debate.
I was banned from TERB in early June because, in response to a rude and unprofessional PM from a Moderator, I took a few public jabs at said Moderator for being a humourless twat. Of course, being spineless, the moron immediately banned me. Heaven forbid he/she actually just post "Shake - shut up, you're an idiot", but I digress.
Obviously, my actions were stupid and unfair to Fred, who had little choice but to back the mod's decision. Although I still believe that the Moderator was/is a TOOL, the proper action was to raise the issue via PM to Fred or one of the Real Mods. I didn't do that and the decision to ban me was both understandable and fair. I never once challenged my banishment, although I have taken numerous jabs at the moderator's actions which led to it.
A few weeks ago, at the urging of some people whom I respect, I sent an e-mail to Fred explaining my side of the issue and apologizing to him for putting him in an awkward situation. The apology was sincere. I did not, however, apologize to the humourless prick who banned me (let alone Dear Old BeeBee, who's chronic inability to "get it" sparked the whole thing), nor will I. I was surprised, and happy, to receive a note from Fred indicating that my account had been reinstated.
I like TERB and, while not wasting time here improved my golf game (as well as spurred me to become a member of Kiarra's fantastic TAD board), I missed being here. Whether its the opportunity to expose Tools, or the chance to have interesting debates with people I respectfully disagree with, its a fun board. Fred, Goober, Sheik, et al have built a really interesting community and I was pleased to have the chance to rejoin it.
Anyway, it has been brought to my attention that "some" mods were upset that, upon my return, I listed myself as Unrepentant and Unapologetic. Apparently, its been the subject of considerable debate among "The Mods".
Are you fucking kidding me?
What is wrong with these people?!?!?
I mean, we have guys telling Black members to go back to Africa, but the subject of discussion is the Shake's tagline? Its okay to describe immigrants as "assholes", but don't dare criticize/poke fun at a Mod!!!!!!
Do these people realize that there's a world (and a board) that exists beyond their navels?
Do they realize that hardly anyone cares about the Shake, his tagline, or even the Mods themselves?
Like any other user here, I'm pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things. I'm flattered - and bemused - that these Mods place such importance on what I say here, however silly such an approach is.
I kind of feel like Kevin Bacon in Footloose. Do these Tools really think that my dancing is going to undermine their perfect world of serenity? Honestly, folks, GET OVER YOURSELVES.
Board rules make sense and should be enforced. The job of a moderator is to know those rules and ensure that they are followed to the betterment of the board. Its a mostly thankless jobs and I admire anyone who takes on the responsibility. That said, the job isn't about you - its about the board. When the fragile egos of the Mods (Gasp - that smart alecy Shake is insulting us!!!) become the focus of their jobs - instead of just being mods - well, its not a good thing. Someone thumbing their nose at the Mods will not lead to chaos and looting in the streets.
I'm going to apologize in advance to Fred and the moderators who encouraged me to return (and went to bat for me). I'm not a quitter but, if mods are flipping out over something as insignificant as this, then my time here is going to litterally be measured in hours rather than days, so lets just be done with it, eh?
