A box of frustration....HELP

The problem I am faced with is my computer runs fine any where but at home .
At home I face numerous start ups, random shut downs, start up after a shut down, lock up ( monitor goes to sleep but I can still hear the
audio, least for a few seconds then it becomes a garbled static)

Have been told that it is related to the hydro,
brought in a Back-ups from APC and still the same
problems.

Any ideas????

What brand of laptop and how old?

All that does sound more electrical than anything else...definitely doesnt sound like your having any problem with the software.
Maybe theres some ressonance occuring at your home that is messing with the sound card and the rest of the hardware in your computer.

Desktop, 2 years tops was built to easily a game that my laptop could not play at all.

nope, my neighbours are retirement age and when I go out to have a smoke in the wee hours of the morning there isn't a light on in their house
