I like the camera but I was wondering what would you look up in the index to see if you can change the time between pressing the button and the taking of the picture..... is there a term for that?

I just find trying to take pictures of dogs and babies that it's hard to get a good shot because the window of opportunity for them remaining still and in frame is short to say the least.

I'm working on a photo essay..... dogs vs babies in texas hold 'em no limit poker. :D

I had a similar camera, Nikon 5700, and there was a setting for the shutter lag. It could be set to take the picture faster after pressing the shutter release. Once you have the focus the camera should take the picture fairly fast after you press the shutter release. Could it be the time it takes for the camera to focus that is slowing you down?

Most cameras would have this lag (delay) set to a minimum value, but there's certainly a possibility that different camera models might have a longer delay for certain memory models which aren't as quick. For example, if one memory stick takes, say, 10 microseconds for each write to be saved to memory, and a newer one only takes 7 microseconds, it's possible (but unlikely) that the camera would wait for 10 us by default.

But in any case, I wouldn't expect that you'll get much faster response ouf of your camera, regardless of the settings (that is, if you want pictures to be saved correctly).
