Anybody have any good advice re a new BBQ. I am leaning to wards a Webber. Trying to weigh the pros and cons regarding features, such as stainless steel burners, grills etc. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated, I hate comparison shopping, especially when I don't know the apples from the oranges.

Anywhere there's a Strip Joint
Alot of stores are clearing seasonal stuff out, so you should be able to get a good deal.

Broil King. Great BBQ that is Made in Canada and last forever!:)
My hesitation with the Broil King, at least the ones I saw is the dual H burners, seems they are always failing. I will buy Canadian, if can.

Kinda counting on that, thinking sometime in the next two weeks or so.

Highest Quality BBQ on the market

If you don't get a Vermont Castings, there is no point in getting anything.

I've had a Broil King for 8 years know. Best BBQ I've ever owned. Made by OMC (a Canadian company down by kitchener I think). They make Weber in Canada as well.
This is not the year for Broil King. A couple of their models this year were found to melt at the bottom. They have come up with an after market fix but I would wait for next year when the fix is incorporated into the new design. There was a report on this problem on CFTO news a few months back.

Here's a tip - when in need of a short-list for some product that you know nothing about, a good place to start is Consumersearch.com. They review the reviews on most common goods.

BTW, the best grills are made by Fire Magic (http://www.bbqoutfitters.com/grills-fire-magic-c-1_4.html) , but they can go over 10K so that might not be in the budget :)

The problem occurred when the user continued to run the bbq at maximum setting while there was a grease fire.

If you keep the bbq running while it is 'on fire', you probably shouldn't be operating an appliance to begin with.

I'd say it's more Darwinian than defect. :p

I have a Weber as well (can't recall the model, but it sells for about $700) at the Home Depot. It has to be one of the best purchases I have made in my life, worth every cent imho. It is about 3 or 4 years old now and as new despite being used alot, winters too. My parents have a couple Webers, one is nearly 20 years old and still runs as new. You just can't go wrong with Weber.

CFM Majestic are in bankruptcy protection and the Ontario Teachers Pension Fund are desperate to off load their majority holdings.

I worked with this company from it's inception until they pulled out of Canada. they owend the Kennedy/Derry Road area at one time, all gone now. Their grills and fireplaces are now full of Chinese components including burners. I would steer clear of any product from this outfit.
I was wondering what happened to them, I pass by the closed plants every day on the way to/from work.

Bought a Napoleon about six years ago approx $1100.00. The igniter fucked up within six months. Poor gas flow etc. Fed it to the fishes. Then I go out and buy a Vermont Castings $1450.00. The rotissere burner fucks up within 3 months. I buy a cheapie from a marina close to my cottage $450.00. This mother has lasted for 4 years with no problems. Still have a very and I mean very old Sheperd BBQ around, it has to be at least 25 years old. Its like the eveready Bunnie just goes and goes and goes.

I've always thought Broil King burners were crappy.

If you're buying a premium BBQ, go weber, or a couple of other smaller labels. Don't go Brinkmann.

An alternative is to get a $300 BBQ for everyday use, and get a Weber charcoal kettle BBQ for the special stuff. You can get lump charcoal way hotter than propane or natural gas (important for searing steaks) and its great for the low and slow stuff as well.
