The Republican leadership is among them, I assure you. They can't come out and say it because Trump's base is too loyal to him but if he kicked the bucket today there would be muted celebrations in many republican offices tomorrow.
Trump will be satisfied to support the GOP candidate and to see his (Trump's) policies on the platform. He's had his ride on the roller coaster, smited most of his enemies, and has many other interests and abilities.
Yeah, I figure that also. Best thing that happened to the party is Trump losing in 2020 and he did lose.

If Trump bows out or drops dead, the Republicans retain his supporters and he becomes a martyr for them. If they booted him when they had the chance, Trump wouldn't hesitate to take the entire ship down with him. He would do everything he can to crush the republican party, he cares only about himself and has never been a team player.
I don't say this facetiously...... the best thing for the republican party is for Trump to meet his demise. They get rid of him and his shadow without getting their hands dirty by booting him out.
But maybe the best for the dems is that he stays on as leader but spends his campaign time in court instead.
