Haven't been out here in a long time, but thought I'd do a search for 'assassination'. Must reply (unless I previously did here, I don't recall).
Oswald was seen downstairs, and even saw two African-American employees who saw someone in the 1st floor lunchroom (around the time that Oswald noticed those two employees). He did not have enough to go back upstairs, and when he was seen on the 2nd floor, he was calmly drinking his coke without loss of breath (he likely went up to the 2nd floor Coke machine from the 1st floor). People who claimed they saw a shooter at the 6th floor window describe someone wearing different clothes and with a bald spot on their head. Howard Brennan, the prosecution's star witness, is not credible on several points.
As for the CIA, Senator Richard Schweiker, who was involved in the Church Committee I believe, said everywhere they looked, they saw "fingerprints of intelligence" involving Oswald.
People here who doubt a CIA involvement (personally by rogues, not the institution per se) should read books (or visit his website) by Dr. John Newman, former military intelligence analyst and history professor who has concluded that Oswald was a fake defector on a mole hunting operation by the CIA's Counter-Intelligence Chief James Jesus Angleton. The CIA held info about Oswald more than they admitted. Oswald was impersonated in Mexico City (photos and a tape recording of an Oswald who appeared at the Soviet Consulate did not look like or sound like Oswald). WHY DOES THE CIA PUSH BACK ON THE RELEASE OF THE LAST REMAINING FILES IF IT WAS ONLY A LONE NUT ASSASSIN? IT'S BECAUSE THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE.
There may not be a smoking gun, but the totality of the evidence, even circumstantial, does NOT support the Warren Commission's version of the assassination.
I could go on and on, but will return and list some of the best, research websites and latest books, like the recent The JFK Assassination Chokeholds, which examines the best evidence that would likely persuade a jury to acquit.
Also please note that six out of seven mock trials, have resulted in either a hung jury or acquittal for the accused, Lee Harvey Oswald, meaning reasonable doubt exists.
The House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) from the 70s concluded that there was a probable conspiracy based on acoustical evidence of a stuck motorcycle cop's microphone, and that the shot came from the grassy knoll but missed (unfortunately, they still concluded the fatal shot came from the rear). To add insult to injury, the Forensic Pathology Panel of the HSCA concluded based on photos only and an x-ray I believe, which are suspect if not dubious, that the alleged entry wound at the back of the head was 4 inches higher (10 cm) than what the Bethesda autopsy doctors reported. How can they make such a big mistake? The HSCA raised the wound at the back of the head, because the trajectory to the 6th floor window per the Warren Commission does NOT work.
Also, the back wound is too low for a bullet to have exited out the throat above the Adam's Apple. This is another issue. (The autopsy doctors did not dissect the wound track to establish entry and exit - a colossal mistake in autopsy protocol, but hey, they hey, guess that happens when you need to hide the truth).
Finally, the work of the Assassinations Records Review Board (the ARRB) in the 1990s, following Oliver Stone's controversial film, JFK, which was the impetus for Congress to enact the JFK Assassination Records Act under which the ARRB operated, declassified many files and interviewed many of those involved with the medical aspects, including the autopsy. The information gathered put into doubt the autopsy photos, x-rays and the autopsy report. In other words, there was an exit wound at the back of the head that had to arise from a frontal shot, meaning conspiracy. There's evidence that the autopsy doctors were restricted into performing certain procedures by a high ranking military officer.
Who do I think did it?
I don't think it was just a mob hit but there may have been some help from the Mob (Carlos Marcello told an informant in prison that he had JFK killed). I believe the Mob forced Jack Ruby to silence Oswald (in fact, he later admitted that his excuse to spare Jackie Kennedy the agony of a trial was just a legal ploy). I think anti-Castro Cubans may have been involved. There is some evidence of foreign assassins in Dallas at the time as well.
It's possible that the cover-up is a separate event from the murder conspiracy, with some overlap at the most secret points. The threat of WWII was used by LBJ to get honorable men on the Warren Commission and to dissuade the finding of a conspiracy. The autopsy should have been done in Texas, and there should have been a more independent congressional investigation, but that was bypassed with LBJ's Presidential Commission.
P.S. I went to Pittsburgh last November for the 60th anniversary at the Cyril Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law's symposium. Secret Service Agent Paul Landis spoke about a pristine bullet he found at the top of the back rest of the rear seats of JFK's limo. There were other great speakers there too. Incidentally, Dr. Cyril H. Wecht, a staunch critic of the Single Bullet Theory and the lone assassin scenario, passed away early June of this year. R.I.P. Cyril.
