It's Asian Nicole. The National Ballet of Canada presents its annual Christmas show--'The Nutcracker'. This ballet is one of the most recognizable in the world, and premiered at the National Ballet of Canada in 1995.
An early blast of winter did not deter enthusiastic crowds from flocking to Toronto’s Four Seasons Centre. Last night, my darling French ballet instructor invited me to see this most popular ballet show, and it was my second time to see the Nutcracker with him.
Ever since its premiere in St. Petersburg in 1892, The Nutcracker has been an integral and irreplaceable part of Christmas celebrations worldwide and a work of theatrical exuberance synonymous with the unfettered joys of childhood wonderment. The National Ballet of Canada’s touching and multilayered version of the famous ballet, choreographed by James Kudelka, is a spectacular re-imagining that has been greeted with rapturous acclaim by audiences whenever it is performed.
The classic story takes place on Christmas Eve in Imperial Russia and tells the tale of Marie and Misha. The two are brought into the magical world of the Nutcracker, complete with Sugar Plum Fairies, rat kings, and more. The Nutcracker comes to life and battles the rat king to find the Sugar Plum Fairy.
With Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score underpinning the entire spectacular affair, the Nutcracker is a ballet like no other. A great deal of this Nutcracker’s charm is that one is never too young or too old to be swept away by this Nutcracker.
