I was at the homeshow today and saw a nice 3 piece leather couch offered for $ 4,000 plus they throw in a 52 inch RCA tv.
Is this worth it or what????

Anything RCA is less then decent, plus it is probably a rear projection 3 gun tube. These types of televisions tend to be heavy and too large to fit into a lot of rooms. Besides with Plasma, rear projection LCD and DLP television coming down in price so quickly, they can barely give away old rear projections. Besides make sure the couch is made of hardwood or it will break sooner then the TV.

The picture quality is decent
Yes, I'm sure its a rear-projection but not sure if its 3 gun tube. The TV was actually fairly light and not bulky.

I'll check on the hardwood

BTW I had an RCA 42" before and it lasted only 7 years

I had a Sharp 25", it lasted 6 years. And, no, my girlfriend did not break it by dancing on it naked.

... its not much of a deal. ....

Exactly.

Like the old saying

"Nothing comes for free"

First off the mark-up on furniture is huge. So the furniture is real cheap stuff that they make look expensive. I mean let's face it they have to cover the cost of the TV somehow, right? And second like I said already the TVs are maybe a write off from RCA cause they can't sell them. So they give them away real cheap to the stores... maybe even below cost and then the bookkeeping dept writes them off.

Tell the sales rep you don't want the TV and ask him to deduct the cost of a 52inch TV off the cost of the furniture... see what he says. Don’t take "Oh that's the deal" for an answer. Ask him to explain why. <LMAO> :D

Too late, I already went in today and made the deal.
The leather couch is 3 parts, 2 couches and one lounge seat. The leather is good qualityand when I added it up it came to about $ 3,000 total. This means they're selling the TV for about one grand. All in all not a bad deal, if I can get 7 or 8 years out of it (the TV) I'll be happy a little boy :)

BTW you have to become a homeshow member which costs $ 30.--
