Residents fed up with the landlord

Bedbug registry says the building is really disturbing. Bedbugs, mice, roaches, not hot water, drug dealers, pimps, prostitutes, baby mamas, robberies, no heat, animal+human poo in hallways, and dead bodies.

Anyone been by this place to see what is going on? The rental control board doesn't send inspectors out to this building to get things fixed up? Sounds like a real ghetto hell hole and I am surprised Canada has buildings in 4th world conditions like this.

Looks to me like the residents are half the blame. They live like pigs in their own filth. If you don't want to end up here, get an education.
Even if these were luxury condos they would end up looking the same as in the video with the type of people that live there.

The residents are to blame for their own appartments when it come to trash and cleanliness. common areas should be kept clean by all residents and the owner should make sure that elevators work and the property is clean. If i see a piece of trash on the street infront of my house, I pick it up, I don't wait for the city to come and do it.

ok. bed bugs can happen. so can cockroaches. the rest...broken doors, trash, messy hallways is all self-produced. nobody can keep up with the amt of filth drug-dependent bums can produce. the few decent folk in there are unfortunately too poor to leave. the only solution is to clean up the drug problem, deport the pimps and other criminals and make the prostitutes go somewhere else. how much of that is even possible?

Bedbugs are also a sign of poor management. Likely instead of treating the whole building the managers are cheap and spot treat only units that complain.

Controlling bedbugs requires a comprehensive multi unit treatment, treat only one unit and they immediately reinfest from next door.

Pretty bad. I'm sure there are some messy tenants, but in general it's the landlord's responsibility to keep the place in order.

The tenants are to blame for their own mess. Building owners can't keep up with keeping these places clean, without resorting to 24/7 cleaners. These people come from filth and don't know any better, so they do as they know. Our own standards are different, to them, that's probably cleaner than where they came from.

Mess yes. Bugs no.

But the bugs/ mice/ rats get into the garbage/ mess in one unit. Once they are in they go through the walls into units that try to keep clean. Until you can get the few messy tenants to clean their units there is not much management can do. Management can spread pesticides all they want the mice and bugs will just retreat back into the messy units where they can breed and feed on the garbage until the pesticides fade then spread back out. Management can try to do more to get tenants to keep their units clean however they are limited on what they can do (evictions and mandatory clean ups etc takes time). Also if they do end up getting messy tenants to clean up overtime many of the people that live that usually have some type of illness and will eventually just end up back in filth. Can blame management for only so much. However if there are people living in filth then it is that tenant to blame. Until they clean up nothing will improve.

Just go to Main station and see just who lives there, they have created their own problem and need to try fixing their own problems. Just because you show me this crap we should not pay to clean up your own messes.

Why are they not evicting the sloppy tenants? No need to keep them around if they don't follow the rules.

The bugs thrive on the conditions that are present. Clean up the mess and it is easier to clean out the bugs or at least control them.
Depends on the bugs. It's not the case for bed bugs, they don't give a damn whether the place is messy, they feed and breed only on human blood. Once they're in a building getting rid of them is almost entirely a management job.

No, just because they showed one apartment ruined doesn't mean every apartment is like that. It's the landlords job to get rid of such tenants, clean the unit and exterminate pests. Also, you can't tell me that tenants broke the elevator. Everyone else in the building has to suffer because of one or two dirty hoarders and a cheap ass landlord.

People like that landlord should be delt with the way the Chinese did in '49.

Why not get security to get rid of the squatters and add a better front door buzzer system?
