I was referring to your assertions that MSL is the worst coach in the NHL, and no one else would have hired him other than someone who knew him in college.

Btw - the article you reference, along with the contract extension seems to contradict your earlier assertion that the hire of MSL as coach of the Canadiens was nothing but 'another tanking move.'

-no coaching experience and they finished last overall with him coaching
-no one else did hire him except his friend from college
-the contract extension was offered by his friend from college
-the team did tank with a coach with zero experience by finishing last overall and getting the #1 pick

-no one else did hire him except his friend from college He wasn't actively pursuing any type of coaching career before MTL called either, so not really a relevant point in my mind.
-the contract extension was offered by his friend from college The reasoning for the extension is well documented online, and definitely wasn't based solely on just a pre-existing friendship. You really believe a club like the Canadiens would put the reigns of their franchise in the hands of an inexperienced coach for the next 3 seasons based solely on a friendship? C'mon man.
-the team did tank with a coach with zero experience by finishing last overall and getting the #1 pick I don't think you understand what tanking actually is. Tanking is deliberately trying to lose. You expect anyone to believe there was a broad conspiracy to deliberately lose games that included everyone from ownership on down to every player on the ice was perpetrated in co-ordinated fashion just so they could get the #1 pick? Typical FFA Habs related nonsense. To state St. Louis led the team to the worst record is as silly as your fascination with Guy Carbonneau.

The team went 8-30 with Dominic Ducharme and 14-23 with St Louis. That’s a massive difference. The team also stated 10-10 with St. Louis, including 8-5 to start. Aftet the deadline when the team was rid of many better pieces and the team played Intentionally young to tank they closed 4-13.

Caufield had 10 points under Ducharme in 34 games. He had 33 points with St. Louis in about the same number of games. Other young players like Suzuki and Romanov also had a significant resurgence when he arrived.

He did a good coaching job with the Canadiens this year. He was good at lighting some emotion into the team.

Whether he will turn out to be a really good coach is certainly up for debate. But he earned this contract.

I hope they don't put too much pressure on young Shane Wright. Montreal hockey fans are very knowledgeable and demanding. (I think Shane will love Montreal.)

BTW: St. Louis looks like he can still lace up his skates, take a hockey stick and hit the ice.
