allegedly broke into a Camrose home twice in December and, during the second break-in, cooked the cat to death in the microwave.

... and how much time they are likely to do if convicted ? This is just bad.

I will be surprised if they do 6 months....

Yeah, they won't get much time if convicted. It was brought up during the trial (and conviction) of that kid who skinned a cat on video that the fines and charges for animal cruelty are wholly lacking. I hear there is legislature on the go to increase penalties but I mean, they don't punish those who traffic in illegal guns, armed robbers, etc so don't expect much.

I mean even if they increase the penalties the judges will just let them off so.....

Capital punishment is a bit extreme, but corporal punishment isn't......I think they need a month or two at hard labour (breaking rocks) or a public flogging like that amercian kid who was caught trafficing in drugs in...thailand? Syngapore? Malaysia?

granted i got carried away with Capital punishment....but you bring some pretty good ideas to the table..even a "chain" gang will not be such a bad thing have them do some community service for the SPCA for a change
