Is that all the USA kills by cops in 1.5 years? Seems low?!?!?

So using Windows' handy calculator, there are 1,500 killings by fatal shots by police in 1.5 years, or about 1,000 in a calendar year.... I'm rounding off the 990 to 1,000.

1,000 deaths by cop / about 320,000,000 USA population = 0.00031% of people killed by cops, or 1 out of every 320,000 people.

To use that same ratio to Canada's 35,000,000 population, that would be like Canadian cops killing 109 people.

Using the ratio and applying to the GTA's 6,000,000 people, you would get 19 deaths.

So true.

1,500 cop kills in 1.5 years. I'll make a guess that no more than 100 (7%) were from vigilante cops killing people for no reason.

Just looking at those boxes which recap 2016's 500 kills, you can tell most kills were likely justified as a minimum of 400 of them involved an assailant with a weapon. That's not to say they all fought back trying to kill the cop with the weapon, but 2+2 together and in those 500 kills there was likely some risk, trading back of threats, or scuffles.

Looking at the demographics of crime and kills is always the same. It's funny because they are always the same, but I still look at them. I look because there's always a small piece of me that thinks maybe one day the trends will change and voila! Wow, people are changing and look at that! Indians and Asians are suddenly causing trouble. But it never happens.

Blacks are disproportionately high, Whites are somewhere in the middle, and Asians are nowhere to be found. So few Asians were involved they didn't even get a box labeled Asian. They likely got lumped in with "Other".

That would be a lot of shootings in the GTA. Wonder how the number of people killed by the cops in the GTA would compare with US figures when overall murder rates are considered. 82 shot, 14 fatally, over holiday weekend in Chicago. Would be hard to keep up with all the murders.

In some cases where the cops have the person surrounded, like the CD seller or Sammy Yatim would think the cops could blast the suspect with pepper spray or something to immobilize him. Don't know what risks that would add for the cops.

Total deaths is very small. Unjustified deaths even smaller.

Americans should stop pretending to be shocked at these commonplace public executions and accept that it is their popular 21st century bloodsport. They're not doing anything to change the situation so they must like it.

Ancient Rome had the coliseums and gladiator combat; Americans share the 'caught on camera' assaults and murders by police officers and react in similar thumbs up or down fashion through social media.

If Johnson had wanted to live,
1)He could have easily escaped in all that chaos and blended in with the black protesters.
2)He could have surrendered at any time during the 3 hours of negotiation. Go to trial and found not guilty (e.g. O.J. Simpson).

What a bunch of nervous nellies. They are much more likely to be shot by a young black male than by cops. Maybe, they should go to Mexico or Brazil.
